From http://rt.com/news/169660-facebook-criminal-damage-page/:-

An Irish man has avoided serving jail time after pleading guilty to posting an offensive status update on his ex-girlfriend's Facebook page. The landmark case represents the first criminal prosecution for damages done to a social media account.

The 30-year-old man, hailing from the town of Donegal, was charged under the Criminal Damage Act 1991, which carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a €10,000 fine.

The Defendant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was acquitted by a jury last month of raping and falsely imprisoning the same woman in her home on the same date her Facebook page was defaced.

He received a 2,000 Euro (US$2,735) fine. Potentially, a large number of people would be guilty of Fraping. Overall, the prosecution of criminal damage/computer misuse/fraudulent advertising/false utterances may be very expensive. In addition to this, there is the lawful and unlawful manipulation of social media accounts by police and courts:-

UK Police Request Delete of Political Tweet 6 comments

As reported in The Guardian, and on the blogger's own site, British writer Michael Abberton tweeted a link to a fake and/or satirical advertisement for the right wing UKIP party.

Not too long after he was "visited by two Cambridgeshire police officers on Saturday. He was told he had not committed any crimes, but was asked to delete some of his tweets, particularly a retweet of a faked poster giving 10 reasons to vote for Ukip, such as scrapping paid maternity leave and raising income tax for the poorest 88% of Britons."

All of this is strange enough on it's own, but be sure to check the comment stream on his blog, where any number of Anons claim that he made up the entire story, despite the police having already confirmed it!

Social Media Complaints 'At Least Half' of Calls Passed to Front-Line Police in UK 13 comments

The BBC reports:

Complaints originating from social media make up "at least half" of calls passed on to front-line officers, a senior officer has told the BBC.

Chief Constable Alex Marshall, head of the College of Policing, said the number of crimes arising from social media represented "a real problem".

About 6000 officers are being trained to deal with online offences, which are a new problem for officers tasked with policing low-level crime. According to Marshall, the police and public are still trying to understand when online insults became criminal.

Atlanta Police Arrest Street Performer, Coerce Pro-Police Facebook Post 42 comments

"Baton Bob" (wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_Bob) is a street performer in Atlanta, Georgia. In June 2013, Atlanta police arrested Baton Bob during the middle of a street performance, after a verbal altercation Bob had with mall security guards.

Baton Bob has now filed a federal lawsuit accusing Atlanta police of violating his constitutional rights, assault, discrimination, privacy violations and identify theft.

What makes this SoylentNews-worthy is that Atlanta Police forced Baton Bob to post a pro-police statement on his Facebook page before officers would allow Bob to be released on bond. According to the lawsuit:

At approximately 3:40 p.m., while Plaintiff sat handcuffed and without an attorney, he was told to dictate a public statement to Officer Davis, who then typed and posted the message to the Baton Bob Facebook account. The message read:

First of all, the atl police officer that responded to the incident thru security has been very respectful and gracious to me even in handcuffs. So, the situation escalated from a complaint from a security officer in the area and for some reason she rolled up on me like she didn't know who I was and like I had not been there before. For them to call police to come to intervene was not necessary. So, out of it, because of my fury, the Atlanta police officer did not understand the elements of the situation, so he was trying to do his job, respectfully and arrested my ass!!!!!!!!! I'll be out tomorrow so look out for my show at 14th and Peachtree. So now I'm waiting to be transported so I can sign my own bond and get the hell out of here. I want to verify, that the Atlanta police was respectful to me considering the circumstances. See you when I see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As promised, Plaintiff was then given a signature bond and released from jail.

I'm not even a particularly vocal PC person or anything and "fraping" makes me cringe. So we're calling messing with someone's facebook profile rape now? Well I guess it will go nicely with torrenting being piracy and homemade pressurecooker bombs being weapons of mass destruction.

It's the kind of stupid hyperbolic bullshit that could come from only the politically correct.

Funny thing is, I went out on a date with one of those types. She was your typical overweight tattooed and pierced social-justice type, Mexican, and had scolded me more than once throughout the date for using historically offensive phrases like "Latina" or "Hispanic," forgot which; and had chastised me repeatedly for being such a vulgar and unrefined meat-head.

But, at the same time, she liked that I challenged her, she secretly enjoyed my unauthentic and sarcastic eye-rolling apologies when I did offend her, and she liked that I paid for the food and drinks. Most importantly, she knew that I wanted to ravage her, and she in her own difficult and roundabout way appreciated it, eventually showing me off to all of her hipster friends as if I were a prize piece of livestock.

Once I got her back to my place, I knew I won. We fucked on the first date. What a lot of those angry ladies really need is a good deep dickin'.

historically offensive phrases like "Latina" or "Hispanic,"

I wasn't aware that either one of those was in the least offensive...in which case, what the fuck do they want us to call them? And no, my first question when talking to one is not going to be "what country are you from" so I can refer to them as that for the rest of the conversation.

Bear in mind that he said he was scolded throughout the date about it. That means he probably kept bringing it up, maybe he thought her name was 'Latina' and kept calling her that. Of course I'm kidding, but if he focused on the topic during the date like he likes to do around here then let's just say overly-labeling people actually is offensive, regardless of the term being used.

Have you ever used the word "uppity"? Well if you say it in front of captain social-justice then prepare to be called a racist for using that word. Apparently when black slaves were freed in the USA, some wanted an actual education. Whites who didn't like the idea of blacks moving up the social ladder via education called such black folk "uppity niggers". So yea, there are a lot of words that historically are racist or mildly racist.

At least that one makes sense. The best I can guess why "Hispanic" or "Latina/o" would be considered offensive is people crying about how we should be forced to talk about them on the most granular level possible. I see nothing wrong with using labels like "people who speak Spanish" or "people from that general area south of Arizona."

"People in South America don't have a unified culture! Don't talk about them as if they do!" Well no shit. The U.S. doesn't have a unified culture either.

She was your typical overweight tattooed and pierced social-justice type, Mexican,

In other words: a girl with a poor body image, low self esteem, attention seeker who lashed out at the world in frustrated anger. No wonder she fucked on the first date. She was proud to flaunt her new un-PC Bf to her friends, not because how much a rebel you are but the fact that she was able to bag a man. Yea, she sure showed em.

But yea, there are plenty of girls and guys who need a good fucking. Some people are so sexually repressed that they become miserable pricks and inflict their misery onto others. They just need a release. Prostitution should be legal, regulated and socially acceptable. Would solve a lot of problems.

Option 1: Dating an angry chubby liberal Woman:

          • Practice social skills, actually go out, engage in conversation
          • Test skills subverting and compromising antagonistic personality
          • Able to kiss her, in spite of the differences conversation flows smoothly and both having a good time
          • Total cost: 2 craft draft beers and an order of 3 rolled tacos, so approx. $25 USD over period of 3-4 hours

          ---

          Option 2: "Dating" a very young/thin/attractive hooker

          • Young and attractive
          • Tells you, "I didn't come here to hear your life story" when you try to chat her up
          • Doesn't let you kiss her, residual traces of other mens' semen in her mouth, has dick-breath*
          • Has already had at least 5 dicks in her that night with only a quick hairbrushing, breath-mint, and ho-bath** before she got with you
          • Extra for blowjob
          • Yeasty and with higher risk of STDs, especially the really nasty ones
          • Total cost: $100-200 USD, not including hotel room, over a period of 1/2 to 1 hour

          ---

          * 'cause you know and I know that semen does not simply "wash off" things, and continues to smell subtly even after any cleaning short of a sandblasting.
** a "ho-bath" is when a woman washes only her lady-parts in the sink, using only a washcloth.

It's part of this new trend of intellectually deprived and offensive bullshit like "Check yo privilege".

At the same time we are enabling and making many types of racism acceptable again, we are conflating whole hosts of behavior as "rape".

It's a new generation of complete and utter morons enjoying this circle jerk of entitlement and the right-to-not-be-offended.

Nothing is more sad than some new social justice warrior going on and on and on about how I'm raping her by even looking at her in way that makes it more uncomfortable than a casual glance. Even that casual glance can be offensive and rapey.

I won't lie. As a result, when I hear the word rape now, my first thought is that it probably wasn't rape. For all the women (and some men) that get raped, that's very sad indeed that they need to constantly qualify themselves with, "No, this was rape-rape. Real rape. Not words. There was actual touching of genitalia and forcible penetration."

Meanwhile some dumb twatwaffle can keep her mouth flapping about the domination and oppression of the phallus (which is real to a much less extent than claimed) and how men are constantly supporting "rape culture" and allowed to "rape" women with cat calls and glances.

It honestly worries me. I'm afraid that in 30 years I will be sitting on a park bench and zone out for a second looking at some 20-something's breasts for a second and find myself being attacked by young morons who can't differentiate between how they feel about me looking at them, and my penis being forcibly dry docked in their asshole.

      Just depressing...
