I don't even understand the kind of people who post this stuff. It's bizarre. I mean, next time at least post some tentacle porn.

It is a sign the site has reached a certain level of popularity. Moderation takes care of sweeping them away so it really is 99% positive.

And replying to the trolls while logged in only gives them visibility.

(not that I am helping, but the damage was already done)

Occasionally a troll is useful or amusing, and efforts to ban them from the site only stifles it. I saw a bunch of posts the other day on the green site saying how "you should not be allowed to say that, the site runners should DO SOMETHING!!!"

The parent post was modded down. Completely missing the point of the reason of this style of site's success.

I heard/read earlier that TAILS was compromised.

    Can it be trusted now?

      Can it be trusted now?

No. If more people used it, I read that would help... especially if more people ran exit nodes. If you are gonna do something shady, I recommend going to about:config in the browser and disabling JavaScript. Maybe that and use some public WiFi.

packages can be removed each session, a script is good for that, like for apt or synaptic.

i remove hundreds of packages with each new session, including all Java.

Note to submitters and Eds - an important role of the summary is to let us readers decide whether we are interested in the topic and want to read TFA, or not.

It only takes a handful of words to put something in context, e.g. TAILS - a free operating system focused on privacy and anonymity - version 1.1.1 is out and we'll all know whether or not we want to read TFA, if it's likely to be SFW etc. without having to (a) follow a link and (b) then navigate to the root of the external website to discover WTF TAILS is.

...or is everybody too terrified of being accused of making a misjudgement and patronising nerds ("Linux - the free operating system kernel") or starting a pedant cascade ("LINUX - the free operating system") or and having their geek card cancelled?
