A multi-million Pound university chemistry building has been destroyed in a "significant" fire.
About 60 firefighters were at the University of Nottingham at the height of the blaze, having been called just after 20:30 BST on Friday.
No-one was injured and no other buildings were affected as crews fought the fire in the unfinished building in Triumph Road, Radford.
The blaze has now been brought under control, firefighters said.
The timber-framed building was under construction and was due to be completed by next year.
[Editor's Comment: The BBC is reporting that the decision to rebuild the facility has already been taken as of 13 Sep 14]

Wow. Sounds quite heavy.
And I think your clock is broken, too.

Very well done; however, you could've left the 'snark' tag off for maximum effect.

Yeah, will try next time. Wasn't sure at the time how far over heads it would go.

What a great idea, building a chemistry building out of wood. No fire-hazard at all, I guess...
Lucky coincidence the building was not actually finished yet.

According to the BBC
The landmark project was due to be the world's first carbon neutral chemistry laboratory.
The Daily Mail's reporting opens with "Not so carbon neutral now!" [dailymail.co.uk]. Stay classy, Daily Mail.

Way too elegant for student chemistry. Chances are persimmon is still the driver of choice on the nearby golf course, though.

It was just some kid who wanted superpowers from a lab accident. The part that worries me is that he might have gone super villain.
Oh wait...It might have gone this way
