Having recently watched the 15-second scene fan remake of Star Wars and laughing until tears ran down my face, I had to submit it here for your possible enjoyment.

I was expecting the entire movie in 15 seconds.
What it is, is the ENTIRE movie remade by fans with each fan/group contributing only 15 seconds each.

Sounds like an interesting way of testing the limits of fair use rights. No individual contributor was responsible for anything which could be considered infringing, I guess.

Apparently it's from 2010, and they've even done The Empire Strikes Back too. There's also no attempt to goad Lucasfilm into getting heavy-handed with them:
http://www.starwarsuncut.com/talent_release - effectively Lucasfilm will own your work.

I was expecting something else altogether. An alternate version, in which, in the opening scene, the star destroyer simply destroys Leia's cruiser and thus ended all hope for the rebellion. The decision to stave off destruction so they could board it and find the plans, instead of simply destroying it outright always seemed to be the wrong one to me.

I've often wondered why the rebels only had one copy of the Death Star plans. I mean, it's not like THEY wanted to keep it a secret. Put that sucker up on Bittorrent.

While they had invented amazing space flight and robot technology, their communication technology was terribly lacking. They didn't even invent public key encryption yet; private messages had to be sent as holograms stored in robots!

They had to check out if it was a 'mercy mission'. It turns out they were not. It was an ambassadors ship after all...

Hmm now that I think about it your right... Considering they blew away the planet the ambassadors ship was from.

Course from the story POV the robots could have got on the escape pod anyway. Dont think it made much difference from a tactics POV. But from a story POV it introduced 4 key characters.

They didn't even need to retrieve the information to find out what they knew. All they had were the schematics of the Death Star. It wasn't until they got the plans back to the base they they analysed it to find the base's weakpoint.

And the Robots only escaped after they had boarded the ship. If they just kept firing once the ship was disabled, and destroyed it outright, they would not have had time to escape.

I watched the first uncut. I think its surreal. The actors and graphical mode constantly change while the thoroughly memorized plot and lines remain...I bet I could use this in a cognitive study.

"We're featured in a clip. Try to guess which one."

      OK cool.

On a different tangent I was trying to think of some classic SN comments or classic SN moments that directly or paraphrased would work pretty well in the movie.

"That's no moon" and it cuts away to a SN comment linking to the old dear departed goatse URL.

Or maybe a bit of beta / SNfounding humor:

"This is some rescue. You came in here and you didn’t have a plan for getting out?"

      or maybe

"When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master."

Star Wars is biblical in a non religious sense in that its a big enough blob of text that if you've memorized the lines you can pick one line to support any side of any debate in any situation at any time. For example I proposed "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" for our department motto at work; it didn't make the MBA approved cut. Oh well.

At home I watched some of both Ep 4 and Ep 5. By itself it swings between good and lame. When I brought up the original next to it some scenes were great, like really really good recreations in appearance/artistry or creativity or timing.

One of the best gags was a Han Solo wearing a brown fedora.
a scene recreated in macpaint screen shots was impressive.
a scene as a text adventure was good.
Han shooting greedo in a SCUMM VM type game was aslo good.
BUT, people in gold body paint as C3-PO was icky.

Does there exist a version of Episodes 4 - 6, in a single, uncut, version that can be downloaded or streamed? I wouldn't mind if it's extended or digitally enhanced/modernized. I just think it would be nice to have one video to see the whole trilogy without a moment of interruption. I am asking for one that could be stitched by a fan, but is footage from Lucas.
