You've already invested in the tin-foil hat, but now you can protect some other important bodily assets. The New York Post has an article about RadiaShield boxer briefs, which promise "to protect men's reproductive organs and maintain fertility health."

These underpants, supplied by the Belly Armor company, have a silvered layer of fabric in the crotch. They're supposed to stop electromagnetic radiation, such as that from cell phones, that could have deleterious effects on the production of sperm. The attenuation is claimed as 40 to 60 dB over a wide spectrum.

Female readers shouldn't feel left out: as the company's name suggests, it also produces a range of (non-ionising) radiation-proof belly armor for expectant mothers.

The RadiaShield fabric is "a highly conductive silver textile with the same shielding properties as a 1/4-inch thick sheet of aluminum", but without the weight, inconvenience and clanking noises of actual armor. (Enterprising Soylentils may prefer a do-it-yourself approach, utilizing aluminum cooking foil.)

It's not the RF, it's just heat. The testes are extremely sensitive to temperature, that's why they can shrink up into the body (where it's warm), or drop down and hang loosely (where it's cool). Every man already knows this; they seem to have a mind of their own. So your phone is heating your pants and this can increase the temperature by a degree, and that's within the range that the testes need to stay within for optimal sperm production.

If you want to increase your sperm count, don't bother with these fancy underpants, just wear shorts. It's probably not enough to tip the balance of your reproductive ability either way.

I may have not been as clear as I could be, but read it again. When your testes are too cool, they move toward the body, where there is warmth. When they are too hot, they move away from the body, where it is cooler. The article just restated what I said in different terms.

In that case the linked article also got it backwards.

Or perhaps you misread "where" as "when"? WHEN they get cold, they more WHERE it's warm.

This time it's straight out of ``Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?''. The difference is that the Ajax model Mountibank Lead Codpiece was made of lead, intended also to guard against radioactive dust, and a good seller (that this last is a difference is a speculation on my part). That's about it, as far as I can tell.

Keep the phone in your back pocket and drink lots of beer. Oh, and eat those three-part hot food plates at the mall, that works great.
