A team led by Virginia Commonwealth University professor Jennifer Fettweis have characterized a previously uncatalogued bacterial STD which is strongly associated with another STD, Trichomoniasis.

From the paper's abstract:

Here, we characterize an uncultivated vaginal mycoplasma tightly associated with trichomoniasis that was previously known by its 16S rRNA sequence as “Mnola.” In this study, the mycoplasma was found almost exclusively in women infected with the sexually transmitted pathogen Trichomonas vaginalis, but rarely observed in women with no diagnosed disease.

The newly characterized bacterium's (proposed name “Candidatus Mycoplasma girerdii”) relationship to Trichomoniasis is unclear, but is found to be quite prolific in those infected with it.

Maybe I haven't been such a loser after all.

I always got Rosie Palm and her five sisters to do the job, as she always does just what I need done, does not complain, and washes before and after doing the job. Don't have to get her drunk before she will do it either.

Sure, I would rather have the real thing, but I will settle for Rosie before I settle for what I have run across so far. In real life, such an act is apt to start a family, and I need quite a bit more stability than what I have been seeing. Between other guys chasing her, cellphones, and the everpresent lawyers, I do not think simple guys like me stand much of a chance. I feel like I am like last year's phone.... obsolete.

I wouldn't recommend virginity too long into adulthood, although once you've had those experiences I've found celibacy to be a life choice perfectly compatible with contentedness. I encourage others to consider it. And if it's going to be your de facto circumstance anyway, why not regain some agency by making it an active choice?

Double The Fun! Mycoplasma Doubles the Cost of an STD

"Doubles the cost"? What does that even mean?

"Doubles the cost"? What does that even mean?

Based on the TFS (I know, it's gauche to read such a thing), it sounds like women who get one common STD also get the second, new one as a bonus prize. Presumably, double the cost refers to the second STD.

These results were, after all based on a study that sampled hundreds of vaginas. Holy Promiscuity, Batman!
