Guess we came a bit late to this news, our subspace receiver must have failed..

After a promising 1st episode were produced of this Star Trek, the producers are looking towards crowdfunding again to expand the series with a further two episodes.
ST:Renegades follows the same universe set out in DS9/Voyager and pick up in year 2388 a decade after Voyagers return.
Many well loved trek actors return to reprise their roles in the ambitious fan production incl. Walter Koenig(Chekov), Terry Farell(Jadzia). Robert Beltran(Chakotay), Tim Russ(Tuvov). Just to name a few.
You can watch the first episode on Youtube here and judge for yourself is this is a worthy alternative or supplement to CBS new paywalled series.

The first episode is available on Youtube.

You spend $6 on a coffee every morning.

Why does everyone say this? Many of us do not spend $6 on a coffee every morning.

No, but many people do. It's an amazing feat of social engineering from Starbucks that made it happen.

You might spend $6 on lunch instead, someone else will spend $100, someone else $1000, and someone makes sandwiches at home for $0.50

The value of lunch remains mostly the same, but the value of a dollar, or $10,000, is entirely related to how many dollars you have. If you earn $50m a year, or $1m a week, or $100 a minute, your opinion on the value of a dollar will be different to that of someone earning $50k a year, or 10 cents a minute.

No, I know many who do, and judging by the queues at Cafe Nero when I do go into the office I think that a lot of people do.

Most people at work seem to have at least one of the following:
        1) A coffee in the morning
        2) A pint at lunchtime
        3) A pint in the evening

All cost about $5-6, and are are less meaningful than lunch with Chekov.

Yes, but jdavidb's point is that the vast majority of people don't earn $50M/year.

Other than garnering bragging rights among a certain small subset of the population, I'm not sure how "meaningful" the lunch would be, and in fact your mythical $6/coffee/3-times-a-day person probably gets much more social "meaningful" interaction out of those coffees with their co-workers spread over the course of the year than spending an hour with an actor known primarily for being on a short-lived TV program 50 years ago.
