I just heard some sad news on talk radio - Actor/comedian Robin Williams was found dead in his California home this morning. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the soylent community will miss him - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
[Ed: Further: This is now being reported by the BBC as an apparent suicide. CNN also have an obituary for Robin Williams.]

This is the first time I've seen a classic troll post [google.com] used for an article.
Either the editors are asleep at the switch or they have a somewhat questionable sense of humor.

The troll post is the only thing that makes is worthy of being on SN. There's no coverage of the hundereds being killed by Islamic State in northern Iraq, including women and children being buried alive, there's no coverage of an unarmed teenager being gunned down by police in Missouri, there was no coverage of the 2 hours of torture that an Arizona prisoner suffered before finally dying, and there's no coverage of the 5 people that have died from food poisoning in the U.S. since Robin Williams died.
And that's OK. This isn't slashdot, and while the most commented stories are the ones about politics and non-nerd news (and I'm guilty of that as much as anyone), that doesn't make it right, and it's not why I come here.
However, I do appreciate a good troll, and this story was very well played.

I'm quite happy with the stories on SN. Doesn't mean I think everything that gets submitted should be posted.
