Florian Schneider, Kraftwerk Co-Founder, Dies Aged 73

As well as being forefathers of the synthpop that would dominate the 1980s and beyond, the title track of Trans-Europe Express was sampled in 1982 by Afrika Bambaataa & the Soul Sonic Force for one of the earliest hip-hop hits, Planet Rock, while Computer World was hugely influential on the house and techno music that emerged from Chicago and Detroit that decade.

The German band he helped found toyed with ideas about technology and society, leaving a profound mark on rock, dance music and hip-hop.

Kraftwerk won a lifetime achievement Grammy award in 2014 and the Grammy for best electronic/dance album (for live album "3-D The Catalogue") in 2018. Last fall, the band was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This is sad, but then yes he was also 73 years old and died of cancer -- a month ago. But in some kind of true Kraftwerk style news, and interviews, come out slowly and rarely.

That said Kraftwerk has turned into something very sad, it's only Ralf that keeps it going. Every performance is now really just playing the greatest hits with perhaps a new effect or visual experience or two. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice and enjoyable. But it's not the same. I do wonder for how long it can continue considering that he is also 70+ years of age, only Karl is yet of that age but then he left the group 30 years ago just a few years after Wolfgang did. I guess that says something about how old they are. I guess the worst is when you hear any of them talk about it, which happens so rarely, they all do seem to hate each other and what became of the group and the music. They are almost indifferent towards each other. Their main website didn't even update with the news that Florian had died.

That said I do still have fond memories of shows even if it has been quite a few years ago since I saw them last (even if it was only Ralf and some of the replacements). Man-Machine was one of the first LP:s I bought for my own money. Sad boop noise indeed.

I bought Autobahn second hand for about $1 in the early 1980's.

Even though it was nearly 10 years old at the time it sounded way more modern and up-to-date than any of the rubbish being played on the radio at the time.

      Amazing album.

I know this is an uncomfortable truth for many of you but Florian Schneider is currently burning in the fires of Hell. We can be quite confident that Florian Schneider is in Hell because he did not accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior before dying. We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. The penalty for sin is death, meaning that without God's mercy and forgiveness, we should all be condemned to eternity in the Lake of Fire. But Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross, then rose from the dead, to serve the penalty for our sins if we only accept His act of love. Florian Schneider did not accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was not born again, so his fate is sadly to spend eternity in Hell.

Please don't be like Florian Schneider. Many of you, like Azuma Hazuki, arrogantly proclaim that Jesus Christ isn't real, rather than face the truth that you need to be born again to receive salvation. I hope that you will chose to follow a different path than Florian Schneider did, and choose to repent and be born again. Accept our Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior and you can be certain that you will spend eternity in Heaven with our Lord rather than joining Florian Schneider and Azuma Hazuki in Hell. Put aside the arrogance of your atheism and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

If you're ready to turn away from a life of sin and to be born again, you can pray this prayer with me.

Lord Jesus Christ, I am deeply sorry for my sins, for continuing to reject your love and wound you. I choose to believe in you and I seek your mercy your forgiveness. Please come into my heart in this moment and allow me to be born again now so that I may join you in Heaven for all eternity. Help me to turn away from my sins and for my body and spirit to be healed, and to free me from my attachment to my sins. In particular, I seek to be free of my frequent and serious sins of [insert here] so that I may begin to live a new life of faith and love. I seek only your love and your mercy. In Your Holy Name I pray, Amen.

If you have committed particularly serious sins like having an abortion, engaging in homosexual acts, stealing from others, lying and committing fraud, and so many other evil acts, you should insert them in the prayer above and ask God for His mercy and to be free from the temptation of sin.

I hope you will choose a different path than Florian Schneider or Azuma Hazuki and instead choose to be born again in the light of our Lord Jesus Christ.
