I'm wondering what Linux distros my fellow soylentils use, and why.

I myself have loved Fedora since version 7, and never cared much for Debian systems. My desktops either run Fedora or a source-built XFCE system. What distros do you use, what architectures, and why do you use them? Are there any distros you wish were still around?

OpenSUSE 13.1 on workstation, 13.2 on laptop.
Works for me because I value stability over latest-and-greatest features.

Just the opposite: 13.1 on the laptop. 13.2 on the desktop. Started using SuSE with a 7.3 (IIRC) boxed set in 2001 and haven't switched since.

I run opensuse as well 13.2, KDE, and older version on a backroom server.

Other machines are Openbsd, But I might be moving them to FreeBSD. I pay for those, and am getting Theo a little hard to stomach.

I always have couple other distros in Virtual Machines that I fire up and play with just to keep up to date.

I also signed up for a free trial of SLED (Suse Linux Enterprize Desktop) and I found out they never cut you off, and it updates just fine well over a year and a half out. Its normally $50/yr. Its gnome, and boring.

Oh, and Salix http://www.salixos.org/ [salixos.org] Slackware without the pain.

Same here. Been using OpenSUSE since way back when.

It's currently on a dual-boot box with Win7, but I haven't fired up Linux in months. I should do that....
