As if they hadn't discredited the movement enough already, feminists are now reportedly attempting to collect scalps from notable men in tech. And they're not worried about little things like the sexual assault they report actually happening.

Feminists in tech have been staging attempted "honey traps" to frame prominent male software developers for sexual assault, according to explosive claims on the blog of Eric S. Raymond, a pioneer of the open source movement. In allegations that will rock the world of software development, prominent targets included Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux kernel.

Raymond quoted excerpts from an online chat with a trusted source, who told him that the Ada Inititiative, a recently-discontinued feminist advocacy group in tech, was trying to "collect scalps" by concocting charges of attempted sexual assault against male software developers.

The source told Raymond that the "MO" of the feminists was to "get alone with the target, and then immediately report "attempted sexual assault." The source said he had stopped mentoring female developers over fears that they might fabricate such charges.

In before someone disbelieves the message because they dislike the messenger.

Can you describe some of the undeserved gains that feminists got through a culture of perpetual victimhood? Then list which of them the MRAs want too.

    • Conviction by accusation for sexual assault by most universities across the nation.
    • Conviction by accusation for sexual assault by the mainstream media
    • Ditto both of the above for sexual harassment.
    • Redefinition of sexual assault to mean any unwanted touching at all.
    • Redefinition of sexual harassment to include even innocent compliments.
    • Redefinition of non-sexual harassment to mean someone disagreed with them.
    • Money. See any feminist's Patreon page.
    • Power. See speaking about how people said mean things to them on twitter in front of the UN.
    • Power. See the ability to get underqualified women into jobs and positions of power by sole virtue of being female.
    • Okay, I'm bored now...

MRAs, as near as I can follow, want none of those. They're each and every one patently unjust. What they want are actual equal rights. Things like women also having to register for the draft. Women having to meet the same physical standards in the military. The most qualified person getting the job with no consideration of what's between their legs. Someone actually looking at why men are three times more likely to commit suicide and seeing if something can be done about it. Things like Twitter letting the #KillAllMen hashtag run while banning anyone who tries to disagree with a feminist for harassment being unfucked. Having a say as to whether an unborn child of theirs can be aborted at the mother's whim. Things like the mother getting custody unless she actually smokes crack while in the courtroom being rectified.

Which of those sound like misogynist asshole-ness to you, exactly? Equality means exactly that, equality. It does not mean equality where you can't yet wrangle special consideration and benefits. Any special consideration and benefits in fact diametrically oppose equality. And don't give me the equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity argument. It's bullshit and everyone knows it.

Quite a few actually. Let's take them in turn.

Women having to register for the draft. Most feminists are opposed to the draft anyway, so claiming that feminists are somehow misandrists because they don't want women to be part of it is ridiculous. They don't want men to be part of it either. Equal physical standards in the military denies differences in biology and is thus sexist. The most qualified person getting the job is something feminists want as well, the problem is that often the best candidates don't even apply for various reasons. Investigating why the suicide rate of men is higher is something feminists like myself are interested in, and in fact we have a theory and a solution but the MRAs don't want to try it because it runs counter to their ideology.

Twitter has quite clear, non-discriminatory rules. Can you cite specific individuals you feel were wrongly banned, or specific examples of Twitter's rules either not being enforced correctly or being sexist? I need specifics with evidence, I'm not going to do the research for you.

Having a say over an unborn child is a tricky one, but I tend to think that since it exists as part of the woman's body and she is the only who has to carry it to term, with all the associated risks, there isn't really any practical way she can be forced to against her will. What would you suggest?

If your custody laws are screwed up then that's a genuine concern. I don't know enough your jurisdiction to comment.

You're standing there bold face advocating unequal treatment and calling me the sexist? Tell me another one, that one was hilarious.

Twitter? Yeah, I can cite you numerous incidents of Randi Harper alone brigading and dogpiling anyone who disagrees with her. I can link you the time she doxxed an officer of a collection agency because they had the temerity to try and collect a debt from her. I can link you people who were banned for outing a feminist for dealing in kiddy porn. I can link you Harper employing yet another convicted pedo. You know what though? You're not going to be convinced even if I do, so what's the point? You're not worth the three minutes of time it would take to gather the links.

Right, you could provide these damning links of criminal behaviour that would completely and irrefutably prove you are right, but you can't be bothered to waste three minutes doing it. Pull the other one, it's got bells on it.

Jesus christ, you have been pulling the same tactic for the five years over on slashdot and you do it here too. You are sexist, claim others are. You demand other people provide citations when you provide none. You fight with any means necessary even hypoccritically moving the goalposts or start talking about scottsman with the "they aren't real feminists". When people do provide citations you ignore their replies and repeat your harassing, abusive behavior on the next article having anything to do with sex. That is all you care about. Sex. You do not comment on any other articles in meaningful numbers. You are part of the problem that the word feminism has become a slur.

Out of anyone on this site or the green one you make for a hostile, intellectually dishonest, sexist atmosphere where harassment is more important than facts.

Equal physical standards in the military denies differences in biology and is thus sexist.

This is a ridiculous view. Not only should there be no differences in physical standards for the military, there should be none for police, fire, or any other job where physical capability is an integral part of your performance. Hell, warehouse jobs even, until the exoskeletons come and then who cares?

As a former infantryman, I (and most everyone I served with) had absolutely zero issue with serving alongside of gays, womens, muslims, whomever, as long as they carry their fair share and I don't have to worry about them having the physical strength and endurance to keep up with the rest of their unit while carrying their full combat load. People die when someone is not up to the tasks required in a firefight.

Hell, I served during DADT and through 9/11 and I had a muslim platoon leader who was widely respected and there were at least 2 or 3 guys that I was fairly certain were gay. But they aced the PT test and were outstanding infantrymen. One of them carried the m60 even. Same with the two women who just passed Ranger school; hell yeah! They earned that because they had to meet the same standards as everyone else.

Now, if you want to talk about modifying standards to make them more universal (maybe allowing for a lower pushup score as long as a roadmarch test was included and excelled at), that could be a possibility that didn't risk lives for the sake of not offending pogues and civilians.

Rumor has it (yeah rumors coming out of ranger school? say it aint so!) that they got special treatment and didn't meet PT standards. Most people get one or two recycles before they give you the boot. The women that passed got half a dozen. They were washing out until general whatshisface arrived then suddenly they were back in it to win it. Finally, why did the CO order their PT records to be scrubbed? That has never happened in ranger school before. There is proof of that rumor being true at least. Theres some congresscritters looking into it but many rangers that were there and the instructors are quietly pissed at the stripe being tarnished. At least other rangers won't have to carry their weight in the field.
