Guess we came a bit late to this news, our subspace receiver must have failed..

After a promising 1st episode were produced of this Star Trek, the producers are looking towards crowdfunding again to expand the series with a further two episodes.
ST:Renegades follows the same universe set out in DS9/Voyager and pick up in year 2388 a decade after Voyagers return.
Many well loved trek actors return to reprise their roles in the ambitious fan production incl. Walter Koenig(Chekov), Terry Farell(Jadzia). Robert Beltran(Chakotay), Tim Russ(Tuvov). Just to name a few.
You can watch the first episode on Youtube here and judge for yourself is this is a worthy alternative or supplement to CBS new paywalled series.

The first episode is available on Youtube.

And what makes me happy and sad is Renegades is a good show, why does that make me sad? Frankly its better than 95% of what Voyager ever did and about 99% of what Enterprise ever did which just shows what can happen if you put a franchise in the hands of those that actually give a fuck. Voyager always made me more sad than Enterprise though, as we all knew from the premise and team behind it that ENT was gonna both suck and blow but VOY could have been ST's answer to Battlestar and instead we got "the good ship reset button".

But its nice to be able to actually watch new Trek that feels like what Roddenberry was going for with the classic show, as I don't know about the rest of you but I'm REALLY fucking sick and tired of everything having to be "Nolan gritty and dark" with everything resolved by copious use of explosions and lens flares. Between the Tim Russ post DS9/VOY shows and Continuing Voyages I can actually watch new trek without feeling either depressed or bored.

ACs are never seen so don't bother. Always ready to show SJWs for the racists they are.

Did we watch the same show? I watched the whole thing, but the story was weak, and the acting stiff. Corin Nemec was on two shows, but still came off as stiff. Perhaps the director Tim Russ was trying to make it like Dragnet? A lot of unexplained hand waving, too. The Captain's office chair in the final scene was the topper. You can see the adjustment rod coming out to the side. It was nice to see some of the old characters, but I do not feel that this show did them justice. I would rather see a show staring Captain Alvarez on the U.S.S. Archer.
