The Washington Post reports:

Hollande is expected to put forward a bill this week to extend a state of emergency for three months, enhancing police power to restrict freedom of movement and gatherings at public places.

At Versailles, he also proposed constitutional changes that would allow authorities to withdraw French citizenship from people with dual nationality, even if they were born in France, and to prevent French terrorism suspects from returning to France.

(Emphasis added.)

I feel this would be unproductive; among the problems Europe has long faced is that the children and even grandchildren of immigrants feel unwelcome in the nations of their birth: I understand there are some European countries in which birth does not convey citizenship. President Hollande's proposal would dramatically exacerbate the problem and so give rise to further terrorism.

You've been terrorized; you lost. And not only have you been terrorized, but you are doing something incredibly cowardly: Infringing upon liberties in the name of security. Pathetic, much like all governments.

    Muslims are scum.

Now that my schitck requirement has been satisfied, you are correct.

But more importantly, that outsiders are further demonized and freedoms are on the chopping-block is indicative of the most insidious problem at all -- nobody has learned anything from 9/11 (or anything, for that matter).

Who should be demonized are the politicians who make time and time again the decisions that lead to shit like this, the fucking-over of their own people, whether or not the official narratives are true or it was a false-flag inside-job.

This means that the politicians can directly or indirectly fuck their people over and over again and simply point somewhere else, and the other people will believe them and externalize blame. This should be evidence enough for even young people to lose all hope in human idiots who will march themselves right into the grave.

Europe's leaders are fucking them over on one of the grandest scales in history and they aren't doing a goddamn thing about it. Your leaders are who must answer to you. Not the Islamic scum, not suicidal leftist faggots with Stockholm-syndrome, not the Jew-run Media or Banks, not the evil Russkies. Your leaders. They got you into this mess.

Look in a mirror. Now if you were to say "Islamic terrorists are scum" then I would agree with you 1000%.

This seems to be a desperate knee-jerk attempt to shut a gate that was opened by the Leftists after WW2. A bit late, as some of the terrorists are 2nd generation born on French soil. Europe's love of liberalism has come to roost. The grandchildren of those who perpetrated the crime against their own nations will be the ones to pay. Sad state of a mess.

I think it's rather France's colonial past that is coming home to roost. Bet they never thought stuff like this would happen when they were kicking the snot out of Algerians.

Was there confirmation that the attackers were Algerian? I didn't see that on the BBC.

To be frank, a good chunk of Europe that had a navy participated in what was known as the Great Game of carving up the rest of the world into various colonial holdings. The British empire more or less broke apart after World War II. As far as I can remember from history, France still holds considerable sway from her formal holdings, such as both franc currencies used in Africa being pinned to the French Franc, and then later the Euro.

I used Algeria as shorthand for 'colonial past coming home to roost.' But Syria was also under French occupation.

    You've been terrorized; you lost.

    So you'd do nothing?

You are one of those people who in the Dark or Middle Ages, when the Goths, Mongols or Saracens came, would meekly shelter in a church and pray until the invaders burst in and cut your throat.

I would have been one of those people who would have gone out and met them, kicked arse and taken as many down as I could before they took me - if they did.

Which of us sounds more "terrorized"?

I think the word "terrorist" is a misnomer - it is a pity it is used. I would prefer "barbarian". To deal with something does not mean you are terrified. Today I caught two mice in traps I had set in my attic; there's a clue, I am not terrified by mice, but I deal with them.

      So you'd do nothing?

No. For instance, you could investigate attacks using methods that do not violate people's fundamental liberties. But declaring war on the concept of terrorism is just silly and costly. Much like with the unjust war on drugs, you will never win.

You seem to think that because doing absolutely nothing would be bad, that doing *something*, no matter what it is, is therefore necessarily good. But in fact, some responses are going to be harmful and worse or just as bad as doing absolutely nothing. Like taking away people's liberties in the name of security, for instance.

You are one of those people who in the Dark or Middle Ages, when the Goths, Mongols or Saracens came, would meekly shelter in a church and pray until the invaders burst in and cut your throat.

No, I'm just not scared of remote threats, because I take probability into account.

To deal with something does not mean you are terrified.

To surrender your liberties to stop it, though, does. Anyone who would do that is a filthy coward who lacks principles.

Additionally, in the US, we get molested by worthless government thugs at airports, have our communications spied on, and many people jump at the mere sight of someone who appears as if they would be Muslim. Other countries, France included, want to take some similar measures. If you don't think that demonstrates that they are terrified, I don't know what to say.
