I'm actually looking for two things: good magazines I haven't found, and good magazines to submit science fiction stories to. I also want to know where I can find your favorite magazines; I've been getting them at the Barnes&Noble in town, but they sell out quickly. Once all they had was three copies of F&SF, and I found it to be excellent. Another time I found five titles, but I haven't seen Asimov's there, and I always liked that one.

Analog was excellent as well, as they've always been. The British Interzone was very well designed, with excellent layout and large amounts of excellent artwork, but I didn't like any of the writing. It just didn't suit my taste.

I have yet to find any decent online mags, I'm sure you guys can supply me with that.

It is associated with Orson Scott Card, though, and I try not to give my money to anything associated with that asshole.

The stories are excellent, the ezine publishes heaps of other authors.

and I try not to give my money to anything associated with that asshole.

Why your disagreement with his convictions makes him an asshole?
(do I detect a faint whiff of SJW coming from your direction? Like, it is your right to refuse to give your money, but why can’t you just disagree with him without resorting to name calling?)

On another line: chances are 10-15 years (or earlier) from now, his opinions in regards with gay/marriage equality won't matter for the end result - the society is likely to override them.
In the meantime, I'd rather prefer to encourage good authors to write good SF than punish a bunch of them for an inconsequential position held by one of them on a social issue.

Why your disagreement with his convictions makes him an asshole?

Because his solution to "Homosexuals can't get health care for their loved ones through their employer like heterosexual people do" amounted to "enter loveless false marriages with opposite-sex people so that both people in homosexual relationship get healthcare". That was when I decided that he was an asshole and, despite the fact that he's an excellent writer whose work I had previously enjoyed, I would do what I could to prevent any more of my money from flowing to him.

do I detect a faint whiff of SJW coming from your direction?

I don't know what SJW smells like. If it smells like Mennen's Speed Stick deodorant, then yes.

Like, it is your right to refuse to give your money, but why can’t you just disagree with him without resorting to name calling?

Because I live in a country with a right to free speech, which means I'm allowed to do some name-calling (as long as I don't stray into slander/libel), and I think he's an asshole, so I'm going to say so.

There are many other excellent outlets for those authors to sell their works to, and I would encourage them to do so. Outlets which I will and have happily supported. (I'm not supporting them currently because I'm still dealing with some financial issues from a combination of being unemployed for a couple of months earlier this year and some poor financial decision making.)

That's absurd, Andy. But... yeah... whatever floats your boat.
Best of luck with your finances
