Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has announced she will resign as chair of the Democratic National Committee. The resignation is to become effective after the party's convention. The organisation's e-mail system was hacked; leaked e-mails appear to confirm accusations that Wasserman-Schultz had taken action favouring Hillary Clinton in her contest against Bernie Sanders to become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. Sanders had previously called for Wasserman-Schultz to resign, a request he reiterated in light of the leak.

Wasserman-Schultz said in a statement:

I know that electing Hillary Clinton as our next president is critical for America's future. I look forward to serving as a surrogate for her campaign in Florida and across the country to ensure her victory.

Trump wants to let the Russians back into Europe. Beware!

And most people are treating the third party choices like third party cookies, simply blocking them out.

For the sake of accuracy, Russia IS part of Europe. Russia is European, Siberia is Asian.

As for Russia re-entering eastern European countries - what would anyone have expected? Our corrupt business "leaders" spent billions to destabilize Ukraine, so that a corrupt animal could be installed as "president". That corrupt leader begins a purge of all ethnic Russians. Georgia, Crimea, greater Ukraine - they've all been the same story.

I certainly can't condemn Russia for the course it has taken in response.

Here here! Most US media has told the story of Ukraine exactly backwards, namely that Russia was came in and took over 1/3 of Ukraine. When what actually happened is that the US and EU came in and took over 2/3 of Ukraine from what had previously been a Russian-controlled country. And as Wikileaks informed us several months ago, Hillary Clinton in particular was determined to destroy Russia's ally Syria (which created the conditions that allowed ISIS to thrive, incidentally).

With that, is it any kind of surprise that Putin is a bit nervous?

In the quest for global domination, You go with what works [counterpunch.org]. In addition to that we wrecked their oil economy and weapons sales in the region. Sounds like a Coke/Pepsi war. And Coke is winning, big time.

In the quest for global domination ...

Well, see, this is the part I'm really unclear about. What exactly is the benefit to us plebs if the US government achieves global domination? For that matter, why is it in any way my concern whether Israel remains a Jewish state?

Clearly we don't want that. Without an enemy it will turn on us and even itself. Such is the nature of things. We are probably safest to just stay out of the crossfire.

One thing to remember, before the end of World War 2 the whole of Europe and much of Russia was always at constant war and/or under attack from one side or the other. This is something Americans cannot comprehend with the big moat and friendly neighbors that surround it. Recent failures of containment notwithstanding the 71 years of relative peace is absolutely unprecedented. Such is the benefit of the "irresistible force". Poor Ukrainians! (not being sarcastic) Stuck between Europe and Russia, still suffering the 2000 (3000 - 4000 - who knows how long?) year old war. They are stuck in the prison yard being forced to join sides. Nobody can just leave them alone. It is catastrophic and pathological. It does really suck.
