Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has announced she will resign as chair of the Democratic National Committee. The resignation is to become effective after the party's convention. The organisation's e-mail system was hacked; leaked e-mails appear to confirm accusations that Wasserman-Schultz had taken action favouring Hillary Clinton in her contest against Bernie Sanders to become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. Sanders had previously called for Wasserman-Schultz to resign, a request he reiterated in light of the leak.

Wasserman-Schultz said in a statement:

I know that electing Hillary Clinton as our next president is critical for America's future. I look forward to serving as a surrogate for her campaign in Florida and across the country to ensure her victory.

Good thing you have your 2nd amendment, to prevent oppression (e.g. when the democratic process fails and the people in charge are not actually representing the majority of peasants)?

(No, I'm not actually calling for violence. I believe most citizens just have a kind of fetish for their hand-guns, and probably that is the better option. Otherwise I expect there would be thousands at any point in time that feel democracy failed and would be time to act.)

Well you have to admit the recent police shootings have upped the ante with addressing police corruption, no?

You utterly fail to understand most gun owners then. Though they are fun to play with on the range, mostly they're viewed by their owners as the tools that they are. Ownership of them is not the goal in and of itself; what it enables is the goal.

There are likely hundreds of thousands right now; possibly millions. They're just widely geographically and socially distributed and unorganized. If it were possible to organize well without Homeland Security kicking down the organizer's door, Washington would be pissing itself. As it should always be.

You must know different gun owners than I do, because the gun owners I know see guns as:
      - Something they can fight with when the revolution comes.
      - A check on the power of the US government, which they see as tyrannical, a la Cliven and Ammon Bundy.
      - A way to protect oneself (never mind that in one case the gun-owning friend was nearly killed by her own gun because the guy she was breaking up with got to her gun before she did).
      - A way to keep scary black people away (at least, this is how one of them actually used their gun as a threat).
And yes, ownership was absolutely the goal in and of itself, because that way they'll have weapons on hand when the revolution comes.

And as far as I can tell, for gun owners who aren't thinking along those lines, the correct word to use is "toy", not "tool", because if you aren't thinking about shooting a person or an animal all you're going to do with it is shoot stuff for fun.

So, in other words, for your own position to make sense, you have to convince yourself that your political opponents are violent, evil, stupid, and hateful, in that order.

You say this as if it were some kind of stretch! When it comes to ammosexuals, no convincing is required! It is just what they are. Very scared and racist and cowardly people clinging to their guns and religion in the vain attempt to compensate for an absence of principles, wisdom, and courage.

You made my point for me. All of your reasons are precisely what I said, seeing them as tools, Want to know something scary? You think about guns more often than gun owners do.
