Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has announced she will resign as chair of the Democratic National Committee. The resignation is to become effective after the party's convention. The organisation's e-mail system was hacked; leaked e-mails appear to confirm accusations that Wasserman-Schultz had taken action favouring Hillary Clinton in her contest against Bernie Sanders to become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. Sanders had previously called for Wasserman-Schultz to resign, a request he reiterated in light of the leak.

Wasserman-Schultz said in a statement:

I know that electing Hillary Clinton as our next president is critical for America's future. I look forward to serving as a surrogate for her campaign in Florida and across the country to ensure her victory.

"if Johnson gets into the debates, he doesn't have the polish to present his ideas well."

Is he any less polished than Trump? I think that's a tough call.

Johnson can come across as a stoner. He stumbles a lot over what he's trying to say, and he's not very good at thinking on his feet. I'll be voting for him (again), but let's be honest. Clinton and Trump can both demolish him in a debate by using time-tested tactics like Gish-galloping and appeal to emotion.

Trump is quite polished if you look at his style. He's playing a Know-Nothing almost-bigot (but never actually says anything bigoted!) improv, and he's got his character on The Candidate nailed.

Clinton has similar problems to Johnson with thinking on her feet. However, she's figured out the obvious work-around. Don't think on your feet. Memorize an extensive dialog tree, and count on the press to be too busy being cows to ask a question that's not in that dialog tree.

Clinton and Trump both use the same technique: if asked a question you don't know the answer to, then you answer a question that you do. The difference between a good politician and a bad one is how easy it is to spot that change.
