It is modestly sensationalist but only modestly. To his credit, the author actually visited the cave in the mountains of the Congo where Ebola was speculated to have originated, wearing a special suit for safety.
The Coming Plague is both sober and sobering. Garrett won the Pulitzer Prize for it. I've also heard her speak at a bookstore - she and I are both UCSC alumni. She's a very intelligent, thoughtful woman.

During his chemical warfare training, he was taught to defend against a "fine mist" that could be sprayed from an airplane, that caused all the same symptoms as Ebola does. That led me to speculate it was the same stuff as the virus produces in your body. If so that's gotta be the most-evil invention in all of human history.
