Television news has long used graphics at the bottom of their screens to identify the people and places in their stories – but with the 2016 presidential race, two networks lately have been injecting analysis into them during their news reporting.

It started in June when Donald Trump denied having said Japan should have nuclear weapons. CNN inserted this snarky line in their chyron:

TRUMP: I NEVER SAID JAPAN SHOULD HAVE NUKES (HE DID)

[...] While fact-checking may or may not be a legitimate new use of the chyron, what is noticeable is a distinct absence of chyron fact-checking for various claims made by Clinton.

For instance, Clinton recently told Fox News' Chris Wallace that FBI Director James Comey had called her answers about her private email use as secretary of state "truthful" – he did not make such a sweeping statement.

I am voting for him not because Hillary is corrupt. But because he would be the most entertaining thing ever to happen in Washington politics.

While I agree that a Trump presidency might be entertaining for a while, you know the old saying: "It's all fun and games until someone launches a nuclear weapon." Because that's the problem with your plan. Would it be entertaining to see various stuff implode as Donald Trump bullies everyone in D.C.? Maybe for a while -- until he actually uses the vast power invested in the federal executive branch to do something unhinged that has massive implications.

I can just see it now: A high-level staff meeting with the Joint Chiefs, NSA director, etc. :

Trump: "If Putin gets to pick where we have the summit, nothing you can do, folks. Although the CIA people -- maybe there is, I don't know."

CIA director: "Uh, Mr. President, are you suggesting we send in the CIA to assassinate the leader of Russia?!"

Trump: "ISIS is honoring Vladimir Putin. He is the founder of ISIS. He's the founder of ISIS, OK? He's the founder. He founded ISIS. And Angela Merkel was the co-founder -- she has blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever..."

Chairman of Joint Chiefs: "Mr. President, we have no evidence to support any of that. Are you sure? Don't you just mean that Putin's general policies don't stand in the way of ISIS development?"

Trump: "No, I mean he's the founder of ISIS. I do. Putin is not going to go into Ukraine."

NSA director: "Umm... well, he did go into Ukraine in 2014. But, well, if you have intel on this ISIS connection, are you actually suggesting we order the CIA to assassinate him?"

Trump: "I don't care. He was the founder. Did you read about NATO? No more 'Merry Christmas' at NATO. No more. Maybe we should boycott NATO."

CIA director: "Mr. President, let's get back on point here. Are you suggesting we take action against the leader of Russia?"

Trump: "My IQ is one of the highest -- and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure; it's not your fault."

NSA director: "So, uh, you are ordering the assassination?"

Trump: "There can be no other interpretation. I mean, give me a break. The CIA people have tremendous power because they are so united."

Chairman of Joint Chiefs: "OK, folks. That's a 'go'! Let's get the operation underway."

Trump (walking away muttering): "Make American great again. Make America great again. Make America great again..."

    2 days later...

NSA director: "So, Mr. President, Vladimir Putin is dead, but the world is in an uproar. The entirety of Russia is destabilized, we have reason to believe various Russian generals and high-ranking officials have now taken nuclear weapons into hiding and could launch them whenever they please, and the media are calling for your immediate resignation!"

Trump: "What's with those military and CIA special ops folks? THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?!?"

You know who *ELSE* was going to start WW3?

LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama. All of their opponents too were going to do so. Notice a pattern? I am going to go out on a limb and say that idea is not entirely truthful and is FUD? The closest we came was with Kennedy who actually had his finger on the button. We hear this same tired old *lie* every time. I have heard this bed time story before.

LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama.

I see the pattern. They were all some of the best salesmen in the world, who wrote books (or got someone else to write) on how to 'kinda lie' to get others to their legwork.

It is different when certain people say a candidate will start WW3

This time it isn't just a bunch of internet idiots saying a candidate will start WW3. It is people who have years of experience advising presidents and should know when their advice would be taken or not:

50 G.O.P. Officials Warn Donald Trump Would Put Nation’s Security ‘at Risk’
        http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/09/us/politics/national-security-gop-donald-trump.html?_r=0 [nytimes.com]

        There is a difference between
        1) a mindless party supporter saying x candidate will start WW3
        2) people who have run the CIA, advised presidents, and hold high political offices and have a very real risk of hurting their reputation
