Halal Supermarket in France Told to Sell Pork and Alcohol or Face Closure
A halal supermarket in France has been ordered to start selling pork and alcohol or face being shut down.
Good Price discount store in north-west Paris has been accused of breaching the conditions of its lease by not acting as a general food store, the local housing authority has claimed.
It argues that the local community in Colombes are not being served properly at the shop if no pork or alcohol products are sold there.

Cannes Bans "Burkinis" Over Suspected Link to Radical Islamism
The mayor of Cannes in southern France has banned full-body swimsuits known as "burkinis" from the beach, citing public order concerns.
David Lisnard said they are a "symbol of Islamic extremism" and might spark scuffles, as France is the target of Islamist attacks.
France is on high alert following a series of incidents including July's truck attack in nearby Nice.
Anyone caught flouting the new rule could face a fine of €38 (£33). They will first be asked to change into another swimming costume or leave the beach.

Problem with the beer is, it seems that most Muslims traveling outside of their communities engage in it. Beer is a sin, but it doesn't make you permanently unclean. The bacon that AC mentions is a taboo greater than alcohol by orders of magnitude. And, nudie bars? I read that most or all of the 9/11 attackers passed time in nudie bars, guzzling their choice of alcoholic beverage. Becoming a martyr washes away most sins, except that nasty-assed bacon.

This is not the way.
If there were ever a calling card for the superiority of western culture, it would be to have the expanse to accommodate at least moderate Muslims, and to make as tempting as possible to them BLTs with craft beers.
In the US at least, organized religion is slowly dying in the face of free access to porn and the lameness of Christian rock. I wonder what Islam is doing right in promoting itself against the general trend towards secularism.

As I understand it, somehow having their villages bombed by western countries seems to encourage locals to join up with nearby anti-western militias (that happen to be islamic[1], and don't encourage mentioning [their terrorist attack campaigns to invite more western bombings in the area to attract more recruits] to new recruits)
[1] in name at least, apparently there's about as much different interpretations of Islam as there are of Christianity, and some of them actually do disprove of killing people, even if they hold a (slightly) other faith.
No one remembers the singer.

I don't know the actual numbers, this is me spit-balling. If somebody can show me wrong with good sources, I'll gladly accept it. I suspect that Islam has horrible conversion rates, and instead mostly spreads through birth. The question isn't necessarily "what is Islam doing right," but "why do have-nots cling to reproduction and religion more commonly than haves." Other poor immigrant communities have tendencies toward conservative religious beliefs as well. I would expect this to take a couple of generations to dissipate, even after the basic economic and educational disparities are ironed out. That's just culture for you. This thing where the poor conservative people migrate towards the relatively wealthy liberal population centers and have their childrens' childrens' children educated and liberalized is not new.

A big source in the USA is prison. Huge efforts are being made to convert people in prison, and it's working.
Another source is marriage. This goes one way only, because leaving Islam is not permitted. If you leave, you're at risk of an honor killing and will certainly be shunned. Losing all your friends and family it hard to take, so nobody will leave.
BTW, conservative people don't move to liberal places. Conservative people have children, some of whom are liberal and will move. Liberal people don't generally have children.
