Al Jazeera and Fox News (Tor-friendly archived copy) report that fifteen captives have been released from the Guantánamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba. The prisoners, who were captured in Afghanistan and Yemen, are being transferred to the United Arab Emirates for settlement.

There remain 61 prisoners at the camp, of whom at least 19 have been cleared for release.

The US had huge moral authority

Moral authority is not the words I would use, but I agree with your meaning. For your context I am a European.

I remember exactly where I was when the 11/9 attacks happened. I remember really crying at the radio reports of people jumping of the WTC windows to their deaths rather than facing the flames.

When I see that same videos now, I feel no sadness. I feel only that it was unavoidable and if the people in the tower and the planes didn't deserve that awful thing, but their country did. That is how badly the neocons have spent the sympathy of the attacks. I see no difference between the US and his enemies. They are all bad.

Break through the nationalism, and think more on the big problems we all have in common.

American capitalism and those around the world who practice it periodically get too greedy. Why on Earth would Exxon be so stupid as to bury evidence of Global Warming, and actally propagandize against it? Why did the management at Tokyo Electric not build the walls of Fukushima high enough? Why does Big Media try to propagandize everyone about copyright? Why do so many businesses strive to monopolize their markets, rather than just compete? Why do we have so many businesses, from payday loan and pawnshops to red light camera vendors and the whole Prison Industrial Complex, that prey upon citizens, rather than serve customers? Wall Street held the entire economy hostage and got away with it. They practice plenty of corruption and bribery to subvert our government. If they bribed referees and fixed sports games like they bribe politicians and twist the laws, there'd be riots. This is the kind of example our business leaders have been setting. How can an entire segment of the population look up to an embodiment of undeserved wealth, greed, bullying, and divisiveness such as Donald Trump?

If things keep on like this, Big Oil will drown our coastlines for the sake of a few more quarters of profit, and then, assuming we survive, capitalism will have a very bad odor.

Imagine where we would be if humanity weren't out there lying, cheating, stealing, and generally fucking each other over for an extra half percent next quarter?

There were riots. The NYPD and others used chemical warfare against the rioters.
