Common Dreams reports

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said [August 25] that the U.S. Senate will not vote on the 12-nation, corporate-friendly Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) this year, buoying progressive hopes that the trade deal will never come to fruition.

[...] McConnell told a Kentucky State Farm Bureau breakfast in Louisville that the agreement, "which has some serious flaws, will not be acted upon this year".

Germany's Vice Chancellor and Economic Minister said that the controversial Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has "de facto failed", admitting that negotiations between the U.S. and E.U. have completely stalled.

"Negotiations with the U.S. have de facto failed because, of course, as Europeans, we couldn't allow ourselves to submit to American demands", Sigmar Gabriel told the German news station ZDF [1][2] in an interview that will air at 7pm German time [August 28], according to Der Spiegel. [1]

"Everything has stalled", Gabriel said.

Reported by BBC, in English.

In 14 rounds of talks, the two sides had not agreed on a single common chapter out of 27 being discussed, Mr Gabriel said. "In my opinion the negotiations with the United States have de facto failed, even though nobody is really admitting it," said Mr Gabriel.

He suggested Washington was angry about a deal the EU struck with Canada, because it contained elements the US does not want to see in the TTIP.

Ah yes, the Ted Cruz manner of negotiation: "Give me everything I want or no deal"

This is the kind of entitlement attitude you foster when you give everybody fucking participation trophies.

Ah yes, the Obama manner of negotiation: "Give me everything I want or no deal"

Remember Hillary Clinton and currently John Kerry are the framers of this thing. Much like 'Obamacare' with 'we have to pass the bill to know what's in it' sort of negotiations.

Much like Obamacare was a love letter to insurance companies. This thing is a love letter to Hollywood and what is left of our manufacturing base.

Ted Cruz basically used their own way of doing things. It really made him a big do nothing. Which the democrat part is perfectly fine with.

Obama *wasted* his tenure as a president. He had enormous goodwill going in and squandered it by playing even *more* party politics.

Yeah Obamacare is such a love letter to insurance companies that they are leaving it. It must be SOOOOOOOO lucrative for them that they just can't handle all the cash profits.

You mean where they are pulling out of the regions where they are profitable, you know, where the CEO said what a great business move it was to be in these markets only six months ago? And now they decide to leave immediately after they are denied to do a massive corporate merger?

Oh, yeah, this is SO much about being about whether they are making money and NOTHING to do with being petty and obstinate.

I wasn't aware that the people negotiating this thing were young enough to have received participation trophies.

Just more evidence that the reactionary alt-right anti-SJW with-us-or-against us idiots have gone out of their damn minds. They no longer perceive the real world. This can't be just trolling. This is a mass psychotic delusion.

Too young? Who the hell do you think are the ones giving out the trophies in the first place? The kids themselves?
