Vim 8.0 has been released. This is the first major Vim release in 10 years.

New features include:

  • Asynchronous I/O support, channels, JSON
  • Jobs
  • Timers
  • Partials, Lambdas and Closures
  • Packages
  • New style testing
  • Viminfo merged by timestamp
  • GTK+ 3 support
  • MS-Windows DirectX support

Even if Neovim never becomes status quo in the vi world, has the competition at least given Vim developers a shot in the arm?

Then your keyboard won't have the "◆" key. Look for a key with four diamonds arranged to make a trapezoid. Or that, but with flames trailing from it.

Nope, the Windows key just brings up my Start screen. Yes, that's right, I said Start SCREEN, because I am using Windows 8. Wooooooo, Microsoft is the Satan!!!

Left Alt is my Meta key. Also fuck you.
