From The Washington Post:

The survey's findings support other research showing that as overall rates of gun ownership has declined, the number of firearms in circulation has skyrocketed. The implication is that there are more guns in fewer hands than ever before. The top 3 percent of American adults own, on average, 17 guns apiece, according to the survey's estimates.

Washington Post

Interesting. Lawyers, guns, and money! Which of these has the smallest percentage and largest absolute amount? Of course, the other major shift the survey reveals is in the rationale for owning firearms: currently, a majority of owners cite personal protection as their motivation, prior to the 1990's the majority owned guns for sport.

Not really. Everyone was sold out of everything, from the manufacturer to wholesale, to retail level.

California requires full id on record to buy ammunition now. It takes at least 2 weeks to qualify, and without ammunition all those shiny guns might as well be clubs for all the effect they will have.

If you are serious about protecting yourself and your family anymore, especially from the government, alternative weapons will be needed, because otherwise you can expect the government to hit the largest ammo purchasers first when they decide they want to crack down on things for the hypothetical future regime consolidation.

Please describe the circumstances where firing a gun at a LEO results in your family being "protected". The LEO may be doing something completely, plainly illegal, but every other LEO that is present and the ones on the way are all more than happy to every bullet they have access to at you and your family.

If you're a black male the cops kill you whether you have a gun or not. So perhaps you might as well take a few down with you before dying to satisfy the cops lust for killing black people.

Right, because having police killed by black suspects definitely won't make the police more likely to shoot first and ask questions later when next confronted with a black suspect.
