Some people were wondering (well, I was at least), why Julian Assange seems to take such an active role in the USA presidency election (by publishing delicate emails at a sensitive point in time). While both candidates are somewhat controversial, the current leaks seem to be quite focused on the democrats candidate, Hillary Clinton. A tweet sent from wikileaks twitter-account, referencing this story on truepundit, might shed some light on these animosities between Hillary Clinton and Julian Assange: Allegedly, Clinton suggested in 2010 to kill Assange with a drone:

"Can't we just drone this guy?" Clinton openly inquired, offering a simple remedy to silence Assange and smother Wikileaks via a planned military drone strike, according to State Department sources. The statement drew laughter from the room which quickly died off when the Secretary kept talking in a terse manner, sources said. Clinton said Assange, after all, was a relatively soft target, "walking around" freely and thumbing his nose without any fear of reprisals from the United States.

This might heat up expectations and speculations regarding the announced upcoming leaks. Another interesting question might be, how neutral will the Ecuadorian government stay in this struggle. Afterall, Julian Assange does rely on their hospitality at the moment. Will they stay out of it? Or might they have some vested interest to make sure the future US-president is from the democrats? Or would they actually be interested to see Trump being elected?

takyon: WikiLeaks' Assange signals release of documents before U.S. election

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said on Tuesday the group would publish about one million documents related to the U.S. election and three governments in coming weeks, but denied the release was aimed at damaging Hillary Clinton. Assange, speaking via a video link, said the documents would be released before the end of the year, starting with an initial batch in the coming week. Assange, 45, who remains at the Ecuadoran embassy in London where he sought refuge in 2012 to avoid possible extradition to Sweden, said the election material was "significant" and would come out before the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election.

[...] "The material that WikiLeaks is going to publish before the end of the year is of ... a very significant moment in different directions, affecting three powerful organizations in three different states as well as ... the U.S election process," he said via a video link at an event marking the group's 10th anniversary. He said the material would focus on war, weapons, oil, mass surveillance, the technology giant Google and the U.S. election, but declined to give any details. "There has been a misquoting of me and Wikileaks publications ... (suggesting) we intend to harm Hillary Clinton or I intend to harm Hillary Clinton or that I don't like Hillary Clinton. All those are false," he said.

Maybe it's just the echo chamber, but it seems rather clear that Trump is crazy. What's less clear is how Clinton compares, so more data about bad things Hillary has done is more useful.

Especially when Trump's never held public office so you can't really shine a light on that to begin with.

How far would he have to go to convince you? Is there a crazy line somewhere, anywhere that he could or has already crossed?

Now, please don't think I'm exactly thrilled with Hillary as the alternative. But I don't believe she is actually crazy.

And no, statements from the biased media doesn't count... and before you quote inflammatory remarks, remember all politicians, including Hillary does that, Trump seems to be less PC is all. Obama made a joke about droning some kid dating his daughter, Trump wanted to know why we can't just nuke the middle east, and I don't have details offhand but I'm pretty sure most presidents have done/said some evil shit like this.

I don't like either two popular candidates and will be voting for anyone else, but these revelations are less about uncovering the truth and more about getting citizens to pull their heads out of their asses.

She blatantly asked if she could use military equipment to execute a citizen of an allied nation

No she didn't. Somebody made a completely unsubstantiated allegation with no evidence to back them up. In fact, the allegation is anonymous, so for all we know it is Putin or Assange making the allegation, and they've provided not a single shred of evidence to back up the claim.

This isn't "shining a light where it's needed," it's shooting out the bulbs, screaming nonsense, and hoping it'll take people 36 days or more to figure out what they did (by which time it is too late).

What's less clear is how Clinton compares, so more data about bad things Hillary has done is more useful.

Except there is NO DATA, only unsubstantiated allegations. She's had 25+ years of unsubstantiated allegations like this, all of which have been debunked (at a cost of over $100,000,000 in public money -- thank you Republicans for such a colossal waste). This is no different. It's an unsubstantiated allegation, presented with no evidence, by someone known to be an actor for hostile foreign powers interfering in Americas presidential elections. Only a complete fool, or someone with their head shoved so far up their partisan ass they cannot see the nose in front of their face, would be comfortable with wikileaks and Putin targeting the electoral process like this.

They're counting on this taking more than 36 days to debunk thoroughly, while in the meantime rubes like you take their nonsense onboard as "data".

It is the opposite of helpful, it will befuddle those who don't have the time or energy to research Hillary Clinton's past (looking at actual facts, not debunked allegations. Hint: she's about as clean as they come, but you wouldn't know that by reading headlines and comments posted here and elsewhere by masses of either uninformed, or deliberately misinforming, people). This kind of intellectual laziness and fallacious thinking could well end up electing Donald Trump, someone with the same personality flaws that Hitler, Stalin, and other historical figures we'd rather not have leading us, have had, and it should scare the living shit out of anyone with any knowledge of history and two brain cells to rub together.
