The next President of the United States will inherit the keys to the social media kingdom:

What happens to President Barack Obama's 11.1 million Twitter followers on Inauguration Day? The White House says Obama's official @POTUS account will be taken over by the next president, who will start with a huge following but a clean slate of tweets. Obama's tweets will move over to a new handle, @POTUS44, by the National Archives and Records Administration.

The same will take place with Obama's Facebook and Instagram accounts, along with other Twitter accounts including Michelle Obama's @FLOTUS and Joe Biden's @VP accounts.

You can read all about it on the White House weblog.

That was a close one. At least now we know that there won't be any issues or surprises in January. And here I was afraid that all 20 people who listen to Obama on twitter were going to have to update to listening to @RealPOTUS, followed by @RealRealPOTUS, followed by @POTUSPussyCrusher69 (ya know, when Cyber-Trump finally wins his bid for election by default when he rage-smashes Al-Gores'-head-in-a-jar for managing the seemingly impossible task of not sounding TOTALLY crazy 100% of the time).

Oh well, at least now HIllary has an obviously official and accessible form of communication straight to the public in an open and honest manner, like she's only always ever wished for. That'll be good in 6 months when she's relegated to a Hawking-esque wheelchair and communication method.

Yeah, this was the issue I know I was worried about this election cycle.

Short of the Clinton Foundation buying it and making it not-for-profit, do you think Twitter will even still be around come January? My bets are it will not, whether sold off, or bankrupt and liquidated to its creditors.
