Debian has entered "Transition freeze".

Transition freeze ... means no new library transitions or package transitions that involve a large number of packages.
Full freeze: Feb 5 2017.

As always, Debian 9 "Stretch" will be released "when it's ready".

It gets worse. Duke Nukem Forever was released five years ago. To continue to use it as a metaphor for vaporware or protracted development simply makes you look like an old out-of-touch idiot who stopped following the news ten years ago and who's still waiting forever for Duke Forever. Which is, of course, absolutely true of the entire readership of Soylent News, where everyone is an old out-of-touch idiot.

And presumably you know this by being part of the readership....

Absolutely. Duke Nukem Forever is still on my wish list of things to buy, right after I buy a computer to run it, because my computer is 10 years old.
