A measure that would make Denver the first city in the United States to legalize the use of marijuana in such venues as clubs, bars and restaurants is expected to get enough votes to pass, backers and opponents of the initiative said on Tuesday.

The announcement comes amid a string of victories for proponents of medical and recreational marijuana use, with voters in California and Massachusetts approving ballot initiatives legalizing recreational use of the drug last week.

The Colorado measure will permit private businesses to allow marijuana use by adults in designated areas with certain exceptions. Backers of the initiative said it would make Denver the first city in the country where cannabis enthusiasts can enjoy the drug socially without fear of arrest.

"This is a victory for cannabis consumers who, like alcohol consumers, simply want the option to enjoy cannabis in social settings," Kayvan Khalatbari, a Denver businessman and lead proponent of the so-called I-300 measure, said in a statement on Tuesday.

So there was just a story about fake news censorship, and now I can't moderate jmorris as flamebait since it has reached "moderation limit".

Is jmorris getting some special treatment? He sure seems to be the mouthpiece of white hot conservative anger.

Pretty sure it's karma bonus. I have that set to 0 in my preference, and he's at -1 for me. Logged out he's at 0.

I'm logged in and he's at zero logged in or out. I didn't know there were any limits beyond the max of 5, and I'm pretty sure I've seen comments moderated below -1, am I imagining things?

We might both be. I couldn't make it go below -1. I loaded defaults which has a 0 for karma bonus, and it was still at -1.

Actually, I think I might have found a bug with the user prefs. If I set karma bonus to +1, it looks like it stays at 0 in the prefs but that comment goes to 0, flamebait. If I do a save again without touching the karma bonus, it looks like it's actually set to 0 as advertised and that post goes to -1, flamebait. It has 2 flamebait mods.

It's something like how FB won't let more than a certain number of people block a given profile. Apparently he's such a complete frothing maniac he caused an underflow somewhere.

Underflow isn't the opposite of overflow. Underflow is when a number is a fraction too small to differentiate it from zero using rounding, not when the number approaches negative infinity.

And could you please stop with the constant namecalling. It doesn't help anything.

"Complete frothing maniac" is not an insult to JMorris; it is a description of him. And underflow refers to what happens when a data type is given a negative number too large (or in the case of unsigned types, a negative number period) for it to handle, which causes wraparound starting at the top of the largest value it can identify.

          No.

The term arithmetic underflow [wikipedia.org] (or "floating point underflow", or just "underflow") is a condition in a computer program where the result of a calculation is a number of smaller absolute value than the computer can actually store in memory.

Arithmetic underflow can occur when the true result of a floating point operation is smaller in magnitude (that is, closer to zero) than the smallest value representable as a normal floating point number in the target datatype. Underflow can in part be regarded as negative overflow of the exponent of the floating point value. For example, if the exponent part can represent values from −128 to 127, then a result with a value less than −128 may cause underflow.

Colloquially I'd call that "wrapping around" regardless of which direction you're going. Not sure if there's a more ivory tower way of saying it.

Guys, guys! An "underflow" is the flow of shit that travels along the floor of the sewer beneath the nastiness that floats on top of the sewer water. In my experience this isn't far from accurate when describing the contempt jmorris has for most of humanity.
