As a result of a social media campaign, last week makers of the famous geek-popular toy highly sophisticated inter-locking brick system the Lego Group has stopped giving away polybags with print copies of the Daily Mail, something it has done for years in occasional promotions.
The Daily Mail is frequently criticised for its right-wing stance and critics often claim that many of the stories are either inaccurate or utterly fabricated, as the quote below from the " Stop Funding Hate" campaign shows:
While I disagree with their political stand I can accept their right to have it. But lately their headlines have gone beyond offering a right wing opinion. Headlines that do nothing but create distrust of foreigners, blame immigrants for everything, and as of yesterday are now having a go at top judges in the U.K. for being gay while making a legal judgment.
Another article from The Independent has more background.
Lego spokesperson Roar Rude Trangbaek told The Independent: "We spend a lot of time listening to what children have to say. And when parents and grandparents take the time to let us know how they feel, we always listen just as carefully.
"[...] The agreement with The Daily Mail has finished and we have no plans to run any promotional activity with the newspaper in the foreseeable future."
Other targets of "Stop Funding Hate" include John Lewis, Waitrose, and Marks & Spencer.
Is this a case of the liberal left shouting and screaming to enforce a kind of corporate self-censorship, or simply free markets and freedom of speech working together as they should?

And like anybody or anything else with a mouth, speaking freely rather than just not speaking could figuratively shoot themselves in the ass.
When it comes to selling shit and ensuring a profit, there's a big problem with telling 50% of your customers that they're stupid racist rednecks.
If I were the owner of a Legos, I'd refuse from releasing political statements and if forced to only release a "We choose to remain apolitical and hope that our Legos will be constructive to all children" message, because what asshole doesn't want kids to behave constructively?
All of the righteous corporate loons jumping on this hysterical "progressive" bandwagon labeling everybody stupid racist rednecks (including moderate people like myself who love free speech, guns, and marijuana) and attempting to stifle free speech by shouting down constructive debate like a bunch of petulant crybabies with adjustment disorders don't realize they're jumping on the wrong side -- and they will soon fall for their error.

You think 50% of lego's customers are daily mail readers?
Lego's association with the Daily Mail is likely brand damaging among their actual customer base.

Seems to me the petulant crybaby here is you. The vague promise of karmic retribution is the cherry on top.

Sorry, that was my post above, I forgot to log in.
Anyway, there again is that foolish assumption that conservative parents, or European parents who disagree with the unbathed migrant hordes overrunning their once-great nations, don't buy Legos for their kids -- perhaps you believe their kids spend their entire childhoods burning crosses and wearing white hoods and shooting and skinning poor defenseless rodents barefoot and drunk on moonshine.
About your statement about being petulant crybabies -- Trump supporters were never the ones intimidating and beating the opposition and vandalizing their property. Trump supporters weren't the ones labeling everybody racist rednecks. And that's the reason why Trump won, because the Trump opposition was utterly out of touch with reality and turned off many moderates (such as myself) who would have very likely voted Democrat had they picked a decent candidate.

There again is the foolish assumption that half of lego buyers are proudly xenophobic.

It's gotten so bad that even Trump himself has asked his supporters to stop doing these things. What reality are you living in?
