According to /u/Spez, Reddit CEO, the reports of messages edited without any user consent or knowledge are correct as he admits to have done it so himself:

Hey Everyone,

Yep. I messed with the "fuck u/spez" comments, replacing "spez" with r/the_donald mods for about an hour. It's been a long week here trying to unwind the r/pizzagate stuff. As much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly. As the CEO, I shouldn't play such games, and it's all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won't do this again.

Fuck u/spez.

The edits were made in a thread linked from the Washington Post which described the recent ban of the /r/pizzagate subreddit which tried to uncover child-molesters and recently moved to voat.co.

Pizzagate, while being "far out," calls attention to a lot of suspicious coincidences. First of which is the nonsensical use of code-words in Podesta E-mails as leaked by Wikileaks. Second of which is bizzarre public-facing behavior from a D.C. establishment.

What follows is a strange deduction, but it could all be figments of some schizophrenic's tormented imagination. The sad thing is, if the findings of pizzagate were demonstratably true, I'd totally believe it.

Snopes is every bit as credible as Politico is. All media is fake media. And fake media is the reason why my dick is small and why my chosen political candidate didn't win. In fact, we are posting on fake media now. Fake!

Pretty close, but lemme add a few more details.

Assange / the Wikileaks twitter account (hard to know if Assange is even alive at this point) seemed to be encouraging the digging into the fairly obvious coded messages in some of the Podesta emails. The amount of smoke and circumstantial evidence dug up so far is mind boggling in the implications but remain just that, implications and circumstantial evidence. The odds that SOMETHING unwholesome is going on in or around Comet Pizza and Ping Pong and a linked nest of related businesses in the immediate area is getting pretty damned good. But the 'weaponized autism' at work on the problem and digging more clues is astonishing, so if it can be solved they simply will not rest until they succeed.

The scandal of the cover up extends beyond reddit to twitter. They have been swinging the banhammer REALLY hard of late for referencing the #pizzagate hashtag. Which induced a reaction. A gamergater named "Molly" went after twitter to see what she could find and apparently struck gold. She found pedos exchanging material through twitter, hoovered up (believed to be via some automated process) a whole network of accounts following each other and sharing material, some 20K+ accounts in all, posted the whole lot in the form of a spreadsheet and was promptly banned for her trouble. Nobody is disputing she found real pedos or that twitter is covering it up, hence #twittergate.

Meanwhile, while reddit is banning /r/pizzagate they of course have no problem with /r/pedofriends, which is everything you suspect it to be based on hearing the name. And this story really isn't too far fetched, pedos in the highest levels of society aren't exactly unknown. Look here Police crack down on Norway's largest pedophile abuse network [dw.com] for an example where the suspects are still being rounded up. The BBC had the whole Saville affair and coverup for decades, Sandusky and Jackson in the US, the whole F'ckin' Catholic Church, etc.

I would, too. Malicious lies like "pizzagate" are just evil and I'd ban the damned libelers, too..
