British Prime Minister Theresa May is cracking down on unauthorized leaks by ministers and civil servants on her Brexit plans, a leaked memo to the Mail on Sunday newspaper said.

Cabinet Secretary Jeremy Heywood has written to senior officials to tell them that May wants to "urgently tighten security processes" and that anyone found to have leaked sensitive information will be dismissed, according to the memo.

A spokeswoman for May said: "We don't comment on leaked documents."

In his letter dated Nov. 28, Heywood said: "Leaking is corrosive and undermines trust and good government."

"Anyone found to have leaked sensitive information will be dismissed even where there is no compromise of national security."

Theresa May specifically, perhaps, but prior to becoming PM she was getting classified briefings on the operations of both GCHQ and MI5 for over a decade and would have needed to sign-off many of their operations. Kind of hard to believe she could have done that and not picked up at least a bit of information on tradecraft along the way and, even if not, she'd definitely know who to ask about how to go about getting a leak plugged and putting that into practice. It's just a question of whether or not she'd have thought to create a Canary Trap herself, but also whether she thought to discuss the Brexit leaks with someone who might be able suggest and implement a more proactive approach to the problem before the memo was sent.
