The BBC reports that supporters of US President-elect Donald Trump are urging a boycott of the Star Wars film, Rogue One, next week, over claims that scenes had been reshot after the election to make the film more of a thinly-veiled jab linking the president-elect to racism.

Supporters of Donald Trump are urging a boycott of the Star Wars film, Rogue One, due for US release next week.

The campaign began with a series of tweets from activist Jack Posobiec, who claimed the writers changed the film to add scenes linking Mr Trump to racism.

Screenwriter Chris Weitz said that this was "completely fake", though he and another writer have tweeted their opposition to the US president-elect.

#DumpStarWars has been retweeted 120,000 times in the past 24 hours.

In a Periscope video, Jack Posobiec, who is an activist with Citizens for Trump, claimed the writers had said the Empire in the film "is a white supremacist organization like the Trump administration and the diverse rebels are going to defeat them".

"They're trying to make the point of using this movie to push the false narrative... that Trump is a racist." he said.

Hollyweird has been painting conservatives and republicans as stupid and racist for many years now. Many decades, I should say. But, conservatives and republicans keep handing over their money to be entertained - and brainwashed at the same time. Hollyweird has been painting men in general as stupid, for even longer. But, men keep handing over their hard earned money, not even noticing how stupid they look.

Stop feeding the social engineers. Just stop. Everything from Hollyweird is BIG INDUSTRY. We bitch and moan about the big corporations running America, but, we continue to fund them.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"Conservative" and "republican" are not synonymous with "white".

The Republicans, like the Democrats, have some non-white people. And in both parties, much of that racial diversity is more for show than anything else.

But the Republicans just nominated somebody with a history of racist actions in his businesses (e.g. denying rental applications to black people, for being black), who after his election hired an open white supremacist to be his chief advisor. So to say that the Republicans aren't a party that supports white people over non-white people is also not true.

    > Hollyweird has been painting conservatives and republicans as stupid and racist for many years now.

    Wah, wah, wah.
    Name one example.

The fact is that hollywood constantly parodies liberals. That's because writers tend to write what they know and being full of liberals hollywood knows all about them. They stay away from conservatives precisely because they know how thin-skinned they are and so not having much experience with them, they try to avoid doing anything controversial for fear of it being taken too hard.

Look at practically every sitcom - they are all about liberal stereotypes. There are only a handful that are about conservatives - Last Man Standing and that new kevin james one are the only ones on broadcast tv that comes to mind. But even those shows spend a disproportionate amount of time making fun of the token liberals on the shows.

Name one example? Seriously? Start with the classic Archibald Bunker and go forward from there.

But of course I don't agree with GP here either: even All in the Family lampooned the "Meathead's" liberal political views on a frequent basis too. It's not a vast conspiracy to make fun of conservatives -- but they do get made fun of (and their views often distorted or stereotyped in the process) along with liberals and everybody else.

        > Start with the classic Archibald Bunker and go forward from there.

Come on, a show from 40 years ago?
Even so, Archie Bunker was portrayed as a complex person. He was a foil for a lot of sociopolitical commentary, but his character was not completely unsympathetic.

        > It's not a vast conspiracy to make fun of conservatives -- but they do get made fun of (and their views often distorted or stereotyped in the process) along with liberals and everybody else.

That's key, everybody gets caricatured. But liberal characters outnumber 'conservative' characters like 10:1. I think the worst thing you can say is that because there just aren't many conservative characters on screen they rarely break out from the stereotypes. Breaking Bad did a good job with his brother-in-law and Mike though. But for the most part its not unlike how other minorities get stereotypical roles. Looks like runaway has more in common with muslims than he realized.

Hollyweird has been painting conservatives and republicans as stupid and racist for many years now. Many decades, I should say.

Yeah. You see, there's this thing where art holds up a mirror to reality. Since conservative and republican ideals are stupid ("I got mine you get yours big business rah rah rah,") and they lend easily to racism ("we take care of - conserve - us and 'them' can go fuck themselves and we allocate no resources for their conservation unless we're controlling them like slaves,") then it's pretty easy to see how and why the entertainment industry would be able to portray such. Because it's just reality. Don't feel too bad about it.

Oh, and if Hollywood is BIG INDUSTRY.... can you remind me again which of the political parties it is that is All For BIG INDUSTRY? Hint: It starts with an 'R' and ends in 'n'. So how dare you call yourself Republican and fail to support the Disney-Viacom-Bertelsmann complex!

You've confused the Republicans with the Democrats again. It's the D's who want to keep those Negroes on the plantation. Promise them food stamps, and they'll vote D every time, because those evil R's won't give food away for free. Keep 'em dependent, and you control them, right?

Ya, it'd be nice if we could develop systems that actually fix problems. The republicans throw all their might into stopping any sort of socialist programs except when they benefit corporations. The welfare trap is real, its set up to make getting a job difficult (get the job, lose the benefits, and job doesn't cover expenses). So maybe if we had real social safety nets that aren't hobbled by republican dbags then this conversation wouldn't even be happening. The British love their NHS but its being gutted by the UKs version of republicans. But socialism scares the bajeezus out of you good country folks, long live capitalist propagandaaaaaa!

          Yes, propaganda . . . . .

Which former president pushed for a major reduction in welfare benefits, and at the same time signed tougher sentencing into law? I'm very sure it was a Democrat. Wasn't Clinton a Democrat? Yeah - keep dem Negroes on the plantation where they belong.

Republicans, on the other hand, want to toss the black people OFF the damned plantation.
