A new declassified report released by US intelligence officials says Russian President Vladimir Putin "ordered" a campaign to influence the 2016 US presidential election.

The 25-page public version of the report was released on Friday after the officials briefed President-elect Donald Trump and top lawmakers on Capitol Hill on a longer, classified version.

The report said Russian efforts to meddle in vote represent the most recent expression of Moscow's long-standing desire to undermine the US-led liberal democratic order.

[...] After his briefing, Trump stopped short of embracing the intelligence community's assessment that Russia interfered in the presidential campaign, saying only that any hacking attempts had "absolutely no effect" on the outcome of the election.

Having hours earlier dismissed the hacking controversy as a "political witch hunt," Trump later issued a statement whose main aim appeared to be to deflect questions about the legitimacy of his November 8 victory over Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton.

Full text of report available in many places, including at scribd.

Ironically, Wikileaks, an organization usually in favor of information sharing, was upset about dissemination of this report.

In a Friday tweet, WikiLeaks slammed the CIA for leaking information to NBC.

"The Obama admin/CIA is illegally funneling TOP SECRET//COMINT information to NBC for political reasons before PEOTUS even gets to read it," the tweet read.

An NBC report last night touted "an exclusive, inside look" at the report connecting the Russian government to breaches of the Democratic National Convention and other groups and individuals during election season sourced to two intelligence community sources.

WikiLeaks and Assange have championed the dissemination of sensitive or classified in the past, publishing United States diplomatic cables and military information, emails from the 2014 Sony hack and internal documents from multiple other governments and political parties.

Look, I'll go ahead and say it -- even if all the bullshit about Putin and "Russian Hackers" was true, the man still would have done us a favor.

I'd rather Ally with Putin than Arab and Jew scum. Putin is the only man with the balls to put a warrant out on George Soros. We should team up and nuke the entire Middle-East together.

Ok, you are a little over the top there, but essentially right. What, exactly, is the big f*cking deal here? Last I checked Russia is still part of "The West" even if there was that long dark period of Soviet insanity. It isn't like Western powers don't, both openly and quietly, attempt to influence policy, elections, etc. on a pretty regular basis. And again, this report confirms that Russia might have played hard, but they didn't "rig the election". Rigging American elections is something the Democratic Party claims as their exclusive Right so I could see why they would be angry had that happened. But it didn't.

So what, exactly, are the Progs and RINOs all bent about? It is really hard to nail them down on this point.

Did Russia hack the DNC? Probably not. Seth Rich's corpse is probably where you want to start your investigation. Did Russia hack Podesta? Perhaps. But that wasn't exactly difficult and it isn't very uncommon either. Nobody actually cares about security and won't until people die. No need to reprise my frequent rant on this important but distracting side topic here.

Did Russia plant #FakeNews? What do you think Carlos's Blog (The NYT), Bezo's Blog (WaPo), Clinton News Network, Huffing Paint, etc. are? They are all far more concerned with taking the raw content that moves across the news wires and spinning it into political capital for their team than simply packaging that information into short and clear articles. Others are in the game now, this is the only thing new and the only thing that outrages the left. Welcome to the World of Tomorrow, everybody is a journalist, everybody who wants to is a broadcaster. And everybody has an agenda, news consumers are actually smart enough to see that. Just like the rest of the world has managed to survive with U.S. domination of mass media, we will survive if Russia has a small voice here.

Is it that Russia had a preference in our election? Like Obama openly campaigning for Remain in the UK? Quietly putting U.S. taxpayer funds into the elections in Israel? Bombing the crap of of Libya to "influence" their regime change? "Remember, We came, we saw, he died!" Funding ISIS to destabilize Assad after first cozying up him for a few years?

Is it because Putin is uniquely Evil? You don't think a nice guy could rule isn Russia do you? Besides, while Putin's body count is almost certainly higher than Mrs. Clinton's it isn't so far off as to be on a different scale. If Putin wants to stop the West from committing mass suicide he can't be all bad. Dangerous? Oh Hell yes, and should be carefully watched.

But mostly I'm still doing eyerolls at the exact same people who assured us it was mental illness to think the Soviets were influencing American politics (the Red Scare, McCarthyism, etc.) are now frothing at the mouth to punish Russia for attempting to influence American politics.

Trust me, these are not the same person. Just looking at their sentence structure and diction proves it. Besides which, Eth is a troll; he doesn't believe half the shit he says. J-Mo believes every single word. It's the difference between Tina Fey and Sarah Palin.
