Saudi Arabia has sentenced a group of foreign workers who protested against unpaid wages early last year to 300 lashes and four months imprisonment, exacerbating the already dismal plight of temporary foreign workers in the kingdom.

The men, employed by the construction conglomerates Binladin Group and Saudi Oger, had been waiting for months to be paid. Video footage from their protest in April shows them angrily setting ablaze several buses that belonged to their employers.

[...] Binladen Group, founded by the father of deceased al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, and Saudi Oger, led by Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri, both claimed they were unable to pay employees after a plunge in oil revenues.

The companies say they completed payment to 70,000 sacked employees at the end of 2016 and that workers who are still with the company would be receiving payments soon.

If figures, a fundie like you wouldn't understand even the shortest verse in the entire bible.

IIRC Runaway's lazy-agnostic. Unfortunately, this means he's taken the worst of the fundies' social "conservatism" (read: reactionary insanity) with the worst of that particular kind of motivated selfishness I see in all too many agnostics and atheists who've never actually studied religion in any depth.

Is this code for "ignorant hillbilly"? Inquiring minds want to know! Does explain a lot of the cognitive dissonance, however.

No, it means I believe I remember him mentioning he's an agnostic, but based on his posting history he knows less about religion and theology than, for example, the average sea slug does of piloting the F-22 Raptor. In other words, he isn't an agnostic for any actual principled or well-thought-out reason; probably it's just because he doesn't give a damn, is too cowardly to call himself an atheist, and hasn't got the grounding in moral philosophy necessary to come by the position honestly, with a little dash of "Don't nobody tell me what to do including no God."

Wow, just recently I posted some things in a journal of jdavidb that I thought might cause consternation. No true libertarian can be Christian, since believing in a deity implies acknowledging the absolute power of said deity and your complete and total submission. God can take all your shit, including your guns and sex toys, and there is nothing you can do about it. Ergo, god does not exist. I doubt many libertarians, and especially jdavidb, have ever worked through the logical consequences of their totally crazy ideology, and this makes me sorry to have to point it out. But with Runaway, since we are talking about him as if he were not here and to the end that we wish he were not here, the total disinterest in having a coherent world view actually explains a lot. Global warming is not real. Why? My high school teacher was talking about global cooling. Black people are lazy and want free stuff from Democrats, but all the Blacks I work with like me! (My god, the amount of just not seeing that this implies!) If Runaway actually believed in a deity, and believed this deity was just, he would be shaking in his boots in fear of divine retribution of his SJW god. Instead he is afraid of twenty something female co-workers, anchor babies from Fox News, and Hilary Clinton's email that might reveal that it was the fine state of Arkansas that gave us the Clinton grifters. [Arkansas: at least we are not Alaska!] So I predict that god will not be merciful (basmala!!) to Runaway1955! He does not have the balls to be an atheist, nor the conformity to be a regular member of some Baptist "flock". So things will not end well for him. First, Trump takes away his medical care. Not talking about Obamacare here, talking about VA benefits! Time to renegotiate, just like for AirForce One. Got to love a president elect who has no qualms about sticking it to Runaway1954~! Only now, at the end, when you die from lack of health care, will you realize the true power of real estate development, and the deal. Poor Runaway. It must be terrifying to have no idea what is happening, and what your role in it was.
