    4GB RAM, 500GB spinning Drive, 1366x768 resolution, and integrated Intel graphics all on an i5 that wikichip calls mid-range performance? And on sale for $1,000 with Windows 10? Is Dell competing with Apple now?

    Thank you. That was my first thought, too, but I thought I must have misinterpreted something. That $1000 configuration is anything but high-end, and if you do take the time to configure it so that it is high-end, it's not that much less expensive than a MacBook Pro.

      3x USB 3.0 and 1x USB Type-C does look like a good find for a 15.6" laptop, although it does nothing to justify the price which should be half of what it is.

      The premium price can be explained by the complete lack of any real discount (10% is just trickery) and the inclusion of a Kaby Lake processor instead of Skylake. Kaby Lake's major new feature, hardware decoding of media like 4K H.265 10-bit video to improve performance and power consumption, does not apply because the screen resolution is a paltry 1366x768.
