President Trump's executive order banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. also applies to green card holders from those countries, the Department of Homeland Security said Saturday. "It will bar green card holders," acting DHS spokeswoman Gillian Christensen told Reuters.

Green cards serve as proof of an individual's permanent legal residence in the U.S. A senior administration official clarified on Saturday afternoon that green card holders from the seven countries affected in the order who are currently outside the U.S. will need a case-by-case waiver to return to the U.S. Green card holders in the U.S. will have to meet with a consular officer before departing the country, the official said.

At least one case quickly prompted a legal challenge as lawyers representing two Iraqi refugees held at Kennedy International Airport in New York filed a motion early Saturday seeking to have their clients released. They also filed a motion for class certification, in an effort to represent all refugees and other immigrants who they said were being unlawfully detained at ports of entry. Shortly after noon on Saturday, Hameed Khalid Darweesh, an interpreter who worked on behalf of the United States government in Iraq, was released. After nearly 19 hours of detention, Mr. Darweesh began to cry as he spoke to reporters, putting his hands behind his back and miming handcuffs.

[...] Inside the airport, one of the lawyers, Mark Doss, a supervising attorney at the International Refugee Assistance Project, asked a border agent, "Who is the person we need to talk to?"

"Call Mr. Trump," said the agent, who declined to identify himself.

[...] An official message to all American diplomatic posts around the world provided instructions about how to treat people from the countries affected: "Effective immediately, halt interviewing and cease issuance and printing" of visas to the United States. Confusion turned to panic at airports around the world, as travelers found themselves unable to board flights bound for the United States. In Dubai and Istanbul, airport and immigration officials turned passengers away at boarding gates and, in at least one case, ejected a family from a flight they had boarded.

[...] Iranian green card holders who live in the United States were blindsided by the decree while on vacation in Iran, finding themselves in a legal limbo and unsure whether they would be able to return to America. "How do I get back home now?" said Daria Zeynalia, a green card holder who was visiting family in Iran. He had rented a house and leased a car, and would be eligible for citizenship in November. "What about my job? If I can't go back soon, I'll lose everything."

The norm is for our government to not give a shit about us. Lots of us Trump voters figured he was just bullshitting, which was slightly better than perjury and promising to actively fuck up the country. But no! He is actually, for real, going to make America great again, or at least pause the decline. WTF.

This will postpone the extinction of American culture for years. For those who like diversity, remember that the world becomes less diverse if American culture gets wiped out. You can always go visit 3rd-world cultures if you prefer them; we don't need to bring them here to wipe out American culture.

You would be wise to read a fucking history book before spouting your ignorance. Unless you're native, "American culture" is a melting pot of immigrants from around the globe. Hell, Trump's family (aka: Drumpf) immigrated here after their country decided they didn't want them. If you really care so much about 'Americans' then I suggest you start taking an active stand against the oil companies that are polluting every last resource in the country (you could begin by opposing DAPL and Keystone XL, or giving a shit about lead in the drinking water, or fracking). Those things are going to do more harm to all of us than Muslims. Every president during my lifetime has supported some policy on which I disagree--and that's perfectly normal--but Trump is a child who's gone full retard. He is an embarrassment and we're all going to suffer for generations because of his short-sighted policies. Someday it's going to affect you too...

American culture has already been wiped out in big cities, and maybe on the coasts, but it sure does exist. You are unfamiliar with America if you think we lack culture. Try visiting rural Oklahoma, West Virginia, Montana, Wyoming...

To say that American culture doesn't exist because it started as a melting pot is silly; every culture starts that way, and then is refined by shared history. You might as well claim that no culture exists anywhere. Our culture primarily originates from the cultures that existed 60 to 300 years ago in Ireland, the UK, Germany, Italy, and Poland. We have since taken a different path due to our different history -- we like our guns, huge cars, and country music.

DAPL and Keystone XL ought to be double-wall pipe with active leak detection. (could be regular pipe in a larger multi-purpose tunnel) Even without that, if shit were to hit the fan, the damage would be local and sort of temporary. Probably nobody would die, unlike the millions upon millions that would face genocide if Muslims gain control. Wishes and hopes don't make our need for petroleum go away. Our need for hostile immigrants who refuse to melt in the melting pot and see us as inferior "kafir"? Zero.
