Canadians looking to impress on their next romantic date might want to stay clear of on-demand car services, taxis or even public transit, according to the findings of a recent autoTRADER.ca survey that explores the role of the automobile in modern-day dating. In fact, a whopping 92 percent of Canadians say they find it appealing when their date shows up with their own ride. And don't even think about "borrowing the car" for the occasion – close to half of the population surveyed (48 percent) reported that they would find a borrowed vehicle unattractive or "embarrassing beyond words."
While it is unsurprising a publication called Autotrader would find car ownership is necessary for romance, do the study's claims track? Do today's humans really prefer being picked up for a date by someone who owns a car? Is being picked up on a motorcycle really the least attractive?

I disagree with the wealth thing, you have plenty of people who drive nice cars (thanks, easy credit and high-interest loans!) but still live with their parents in their 2-bedroom ghetto apartment.
Years ago I was on a first-date with a woman and mentioned that a clutch-job was being done on my car. She replied that since my car had a clutch, that I enjoyed being in control of my life...or I was really cheap.
I laughed and told her, maybe both.

You oughta see the looks I get from women with my old diesel van.
You know, one day, even today's pretty woman will be old and dumpy too. Does she want a guy who still wants her for what she is, not what she looks like?
To me, the "new car paradigm" is a sure fire display of one's willingness to toss something just because it is "dated".
Want a neat-freak? Fine... just not me. I read about plenty of those already in the mags along the grocery store checkout line.
All the money in the world... and still its not enough. I simply don't want to attract that kind of person. Let 'em go find a rich guy and give *him* that special hell.
