America's new president gave an address to a joint session of Congress. The Los Angeles Times posted a full transcript of the speech (along with remarks from its staff that may require Javascript to view); Bloomberg uploaded a video of the event.

The New York Times called it "the most presidential speech Mr. Trump has ever given — delivered at precisely the moment he needed to project sobriety, seriousness of purpose and self-discipline."

That's not the amazing part. You were modded 0, troll when I loaded the page. Read your comment, upmodded you, and saw you at 4. All within a minute. I think you are going to be modded up and down for quite some time today :)

Yeah, The Trumpanzees don't like it when you use facts. Like the fact *their* criminal treasonous dumbass of a President is selling them out every which way he can.

Drain the swamp my ass. He's making America great again. Just not for the 99%, which Trumpanzees are too stupid to do the math and realize that they ARE NOT the 1%. They are the like the goose from Animal Farm making fun of the horse on the way to the glue factory, celebrating it even, only to find themselves in the cold looking in at the animals more equal than others. Specifically, not them.

I'm starting to feel the excitement for the next 4 years. They are fucking up so bad, without even a pretense of helping out average Americans, that in the end it will fuel a wave of Progressive achievements.

    Resist!

      > Drain the swamp my ass.

Actually, it turns out by "drain the swamp" he was referring to the civil service. Not politicians, not lobbyists and certainly not the people who hire lobbyists (aka fertilize the swamp).

When questioned why he hasn't even bothered to nominate people for 500+ positions, he said:

“A lot of those jobs, I don’t want to appoint someone because they’re unnecessary to have. In government, we have too many people.”

You know, that doesn't bother me. I read an article on Huffington Post today that was talking about how despondent people at the State Department are because Trump is not giving them direction, and firing a whole bunch of them. Well, good, I say; the State Department is populated almost entirely by the kind of elitist fuckers you find at Goldman Sachs or McKinsey. You can't fire or denigrate them enough, actually. How nice it would be to have a State Department that isn't an atavistic throwback to Ivy League Gentlemen's clubs circa 1890, and which actually reflected real America instead.

It would also be nice for Washington DC, the wealthiest part of the country, to feel jolts of fear and uncertainty about their futures after 40+ years of sticking it to the rest of America with impunity. Fire them all, move the capital to Denver, and re-form the government by hiring Americans who are actually competent in the various subject areas instead of peopling departments with patronage hires. I guarantee you putting the machinery of the country in a region where people still have a real work ethic and sense of pride in their work would give the country and world a nice boost for another 50-100 years. Also, it would be really fucking entertaining to watch all those lobbyists, lawyers, politicians, and bureaucrats trying to unload their McMansions in a property market that has suddenly collapsed.

Hilarious. Not one, not a hundred, not even a thousand of the elitest cocksuckers has negotiated a peace yet. And, you still have faith in them actually accomplishing anything there? Let's send Joe the Plumber to fix the problem. He can start by flushing the shit out of the system. In terms you can understand, fire all of Israel's politicians, fire all of the Palestinian politicians, send the cops, army, and whoever else is available to demolish all the "settlements", and gun down the next son of a bitch who picks up a weapon - ON EITHER SIDE!!

Joe didn't go to college, but that doesn't make him stupid. Your Ivy League kids went to college, but that doesn't make them smart, either. It's just fucking POLITICS!! It isn't a science, FFS.

After billions of dollars and many decades of work cancer has not yet been cured, so fire all those elitist pricks with their fancy college degrees, years of relationship building and experience. Well, I feel a whole lot better now that I know that this doesn't bother Phoenix666.

I read an article on Huffington Post today that was talking about how despondent people at the State Department are because Trump is not giving them direction, and firing a whole bunch of them.

Yeah!!! Because what we need right now is a rudderless, directionless federal government run by someone who doesn't know (or care) what he is doing!!!

[T]he State Department is populated almost entirely by the kind of elitist fuckers you find at Goldman Sachs or McKinsey. You can't fire or denigrate them enough, actually.

And you know this how exactly? Have you ever worked for the State Department? Do you even know anyone who works or has worked for the State Department? And what the hell is this reverse snobbery against Ivy League all about? Believe me, I don't personally care for the type who strikes a pose and insists that their opinion is all that mattes because they graduated from an Ivy League school. But are you really attempting to argue that your ignorance is just as good as the careful analysis of experts based on facts and statistics? Seriously?!?

How nice it would be to have a State Department that isn't an atavistic throwback to Ivy League Gentlemen's clubs circa 1890, and which actually reflected real America instead.

Yeah!!! Because what we really need to deal with the complex global issues our world is facing is to have Joe Sixpack bluster and show us all what's what!!!</sarcasm>

It would also be nice for Washington DC, the wealthiest part of the country, to feel jolts of fear and uncertainty about their futures after 40+ years of sticking it to the rest of America with impunity. OK, now I know you are talking out of your ass. This news story is not about political ambassador appointments, which are, admittedly, all too frequently patronage hires. Instead, these are appointed sub-Cabinet level positions typically filled by non-political career civil servants. Maybe, in light of that, you would like to admit that you didn't know what you were talking about?
