Stack Overflow, the world's largest online community for programmers to learn, share their knowledge and level up their careers, today released the Stack Overflow Annual Developer Survey results . With more than 64,000 responses fielded from 213 countries and dependent territories, the Stack Overflow Annual Developer Survey is the most comprehensive survey of the programmer workforce to date.
The 2017 report examines all aspects of the developer experience from education backgrounds and career satisfaction to what developers care about when searching for new job opportunities. These trends are invaluable for organizations looking to scale or cultivate technical teams.
"In a hiring landscape where developers are in constant demand, understanding the talent you want to hire is the single most important thing you can do to attract - and retain - the right developers," said Stack Overflow VP Jay Hanlon. "Thanks to the generosity of the largest community of developers in the world, the developer survey is an invaluable tool for any employer who wants insights into what actually drives and motivates developers throughout their careers."

You lost me right there...
The only thing SO is good for is for telling you that what you're trying to do is dumb, that you are a moron for wanting to do it and that what you really ought to do is this other thing which worked for some random dude with lots of golden stars (does SO use golden stars like in kindergarten or some other achievement scheme?). Also Node.JS, make everything Node and other FxOTD-based ("Framework" of the day)

well... if only they implemented SO in perl, they wouldn't have had this issue because then they could easily write regex'es to flag posts for removal...

I'm not sure what you use SO for but apparently you seem to anger the SO gods with your questions (or perhaps just your attitude). SO is different things to different people. Some use it to prove they're smarter than everyone else, or that they are well versed in contempt for everyone else, or to try to find even one little thing that they can pick at because they just can't help themselves (let alone someone else). For me it's a resource.
Rarely are the questions I have, or problems I'm trying to solve, unique to me. Usually someone, somewhere, has had to solve this issue before me - and SO is where I go to find it.
I often use SO to validate if I'm doing something correctly. There are times I think "this can't be the best way to so this" so I try to find a better or more creative solution. Usually I find that my approach seems to have been the correct tact even though it does not seem like it to me. Other times I see a simple, elegant solution that reminds me that there's still a lot to learn.
