Tesla has issued a voluntary global recall for some of its Model S and Model X cars to fix a problem with the parking brake. The electric car maker said about 2% of the 53,000 vehicles built from February to October 2016 were affected, but all of those cars are being recalled. The company added it had no reports of accidents or injuries relating to the brake issue.

In a statement the firm said the electric parking brakes installed on Model S and Model X "may contain a small gear that could have been manufactured improperly by our third-party supplier". If the gear were to break, the parking brake would continue to keep the car from moving, but the parking brake would be stuck in place, it added.

There is no comparison between electronic devices like computers, and automobiles, which actually require almost no electricity. Automobiles and similar devices can run with only a magneto, to fire the spark plugs. If the vehicle or machine is diesel powered, you don't even need the magneto, because no spark plugs.

The problem is, mankind has discovered that electricity can do things for him, so he uses electricity to do damned near everything. Once again - obesity is a problem, why? Because couch potatoes are to damned lazy to do much of anything. Some people seem to devote their lives to finding new ways to be lazy. One day soon, we'll see an electronic device that will pick your nose for you, so that you don't have to expend the energy.

FFS - anyone who is to lazy to open and close a car window can just sit and swelter, or freeze, in that car. Window cranks work, and they'll keep on working after the car is submerged in water, and the battery is shorted out dead, dead, dead. So, you see, in at least that one example, your reliance on electricity has actually created a death trap.

You rely on electricity and electronics for everything - I'll maintain my self sufficiency as far as possible, and at the same time, remain more physically fit.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that buddy.
In my day we ran our cars on pedal power!
Your old-man arbitrary distinctions are weak tea.
