Funny, I just got through having an argument with a client. They're still a little bit upset I dropped Microsoft from my support options and refuse to create anything using it.

    It went like this:

ME: Well, it's not a viable business decision for me. All that telemetry and tracking means that your data is shared in realtime, possibly pushed to the cloud if you are not careful, and Microsoft will mine it. I cannot trust Microsoft to either protect that data, or not forward it to the NSA.
THEM: Don't care. Got nothing to hide. They can do my work for me then. My business data is not *that* important.
ME: *eye roll* - That's fantastic, but I'm not yet ready to say screw it and stay naked forever. Still a little bit shy. Going to have to at least attempt to create secure platform. When you get pwned and your business data is in the wild, along with all of your customers, you might change your mind.

ME: No. I absolutely will not consider doing anything with Windows 10, and no, it's not an option to just use Windows 7 till they cave. Newer processors are only going to be supported with Windows 10 going forward, 8.1 if we are lucky. Win 7 is left out in the cold. I will support Windows 7 to an extent, but don't expect me to keep asking questions forever. At some point, I will start telling that I don't know. Cuz I won't know.
THEM: So how do I use Microsoft Word then?
    ME: Don't
THEM: *cries* *vomiting* *complaints about the pain*

I ended up telling them the most I could do for them is to create a thin client using BSD that allows them to use Google Docs, or Office365.com with a browser. My only option for them. Otherwise, stop torturing me and find some Microsoft tech that still loves MS. Good luck :D

Why does it matter to you if their data is stolen or similar?

Anyway, Microsoft software is a problem in that whatever you learn. They have a tendency to drop it and create something new for no reason other than to push a new sales. So you have to regularly throw away all you have learned along with any tools. Then it's the retarded way to do simple things and no ability to check sources or fix them. So it causes frustration and perhaps more important it won't develop your skills. It's just another change for it's own sake, repeat ad infinitum.
