When Skytorrents first showed up, advertising an ad-free and privacy-focused service, we were skeptical. They wouldn't be the first to start this way but change their tune when visitors started coming in.

Damn, even we use cookies for log-ins.

      Piracy is Slavery. Slavery to Movie Producers. We should be making Free Movies instead. Making movies free is the first step toward the post scarcity world where nobody has to work and everybody smokes weed on Basic Income.

          Open source films [wikipedia.org], just like open source software, are crap.

        Overrated? This is pretty much why I stopped pirating. There have been a bunch of studies showing that piracy benefits distributors by providing them with free word-of-mouth advertising. I don't want to be providing advertising for someone who won't distribute their works under terms that I find acceptable (i.e. no DRM, fair use rights respected, for an affordable price). Don't want to make your film easily available to me? Fine, I'll watch something else - it's not like there's a shortage of things I'll enjoy watching (even if no more TV shows or movies were ever made, I'd probably find enough to last me the rest of my life).

          Soooo... You won't illegally watch for free the product of someone's labor, depriving them of a reward for the entertainment value you get, because getting that free entertainment may indirectly benefit the provider of the entertainment, which is unacceptable because they didn't provide it to you under terms that you'd agree with to hand them money?

          I need an aspirin.
