WQAD-TV in SeattleMoline, IL alerts us that

The annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower is usually active between April 19 and May 28. This year, it will peak around May 5 or May 6.

The best time to view the shower will be during the early morning of May 6, just before dawn [...]

The article goes on to explain that the meteors originate from Halley's Comet, which will next approach Earth in 2061. Mark your calendars!

According to Wikipedia, Yisrael Kristal is the oldest verified male ever and he's 113 years old; Jeanne Calment, a woman, lived to age 122 and was the oldest verified woman. So if you're female and less than 78 years old, or male and less than 69 years old, and you are exceptionally lucky (might a sex change help?), you could see it.

The next approach is expected to be more of a spectacle than the comet's 1986 pass (especially if viewed from Venus), with even better viewing in 2134:

The next predicted perihelion of Halley's Comet is 28 July 2061, when it is expected to be better positioned for observation than during the 1985–1986 apparition, as it will be on the same side of the Sun as Earth. It is expected to have an apparent magnitude of −0.3, compared with only +2.1 for the 1986 apparition. It has been calculated that on 9 September 2060, Halley will pass within 0.98 AU (147,000,000 km) of Jupiter, and then on 20 August 2061 will pass within 0.0543 AU (8,120,000 km) of Venus. In 2134, Halley is expected to pass within 0.09 AU (13,000,000 km) of Earth.

FYI a girl who's around 5 years old now will be around 122 in 2134.
