Three families of victims killed in a 2015 terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California have sued Twitter, Google, and Facebook, alleging that the tech giants knowingly supported ISIS by allowing it to build an online presence and recruit new members for attacks:
Similar lawsuits against social-networking companies have been dismissed by U.S. courts because of a law which immunizes online providers from liability over user postings.
Court records show that in previous cases, Google, Facebook and Twitter have said, while they are sympathetic to victims, they are not liable for what happened.

This one is especially specious because (as far as I'm aware) there's no evidence they were radicalized on any of these platforms.
This article [businessinsider.com] says:
"One law-enforcement official told CNN that the attackers look to have been "self-radicalized." Another source said the investigation is focusing on a workplace issue about religion more than the apparent ISIS connection."

I rather suspect this was part of their plan for a long time. They lied on the visa applications, hid their associations with particular groups in their home-country, etc. (She more than He from all accounts). Their California Mosque affiliation, and their own Mosque-shopping should have raised a few questions.
None of their background information was followed up or vetted until AFTER this event, because that wasn't politically correct in those days.
The families are shown visions of a shiny pot of money over at the social media companies, and the lawyer see an even bigger payout. Even if they win, the lawyers will get all the money. Its still not politically correct to go after the Mosque, and even the lawyers are afraid to enter that arena.

Well, self-radicalized can still mean externally inspired. Sure, maybe he did not accept orders nor be recruited from foreign agents. But really, do you think he designed a gun wielding, gay killing, alliance swearing moment as an original idea?

Also on TV, in newspapers, radio, podcasts, movies, cartoons, books, music, theater, games, D&D scenarios, LARPs, tap-dances, art galleries, in-person conversations, over the phone, in SMS, shouted or mumbled by the homeless, graffitied on the bathroom stall, on the back of a McDonald's menu, and probably a few other locations I've missed.

self radicalized means they used the internet instead of being recruited in person like the us military does. it's radical to use the internet to learn about things instead of some authority teaching it to you like god intended. are you some kind of terrorist?
