from the two-hour-sprint dept.

We've previously discussed the possibility of running a two hour marathon (with much of the usual wit in this thread). For a comparison against running one mile in four minutes, running at the pace of a five minute mile would be too slow. Like running a mile in four minutes, people said running a marathon in two hours was impossible. However, it is looking very possible with advanced footwear and suchlike. Specifically, Kenyan marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge was within 0.4% of this goal. Variously reported as being 25 seconds or 26 second too slow, his effort is an unofficial world record.

Don't you ever get tired of this nonsense? I mean, even if all the anti-negro bullshit were true, don't you get tired of it? Let's pretend that the black man really is the scum of the earth. Just how many times can a person announce what he considers to be obvious? "My poop stinks, Mommy! Smell it!" That is what you sound like, at your very best.

My poop doesn't stink you fool. I eat a steady diet of falafel and coffee and my poop comes out smelling exactly like falafel and my piss smells exactly like coffee.

The original comment was illogical making the complaint about it ridiculous. It doesn't matter why AC was posting incorrectly by your standards if the root problem is that AC was simply wrong.

The real problem is the selection pressure could have existed in the relatively short agricultural implement era, but it didn't exist very long and it would be swamped by other effects.

Their brothers/cousins sold them to merchants so by definition the ones captured and sold in Africa were the slowest running ones, not fastest. Their ancestors got captured and sold because they were worse at running / swimming / organized military action / diplomacy / organized civilization / imperialism, so they got powned and getting powned in Africa in 1800 (or hell, 2017 to a lesser extent) means slavery. They didn't get purchased originally because they were the fastest runners, if anything the exact opposite.

The ag implement era where 90%+ died from diseases should have evolved them to be disease proof if original AC is claiming that era was evolutionary in length. I donno about that.

OP actually got some of it correct, that slavers take away the slowest moving 50% of your population for centuries and send them to America or Caribbean or where ever, then even centuries later the fastest people on earth are going to be the survivors in Africa who's ancestors always somehow outran the slavers.

This is a minor theme in the Dune series of books, the average Fremen is pretty highly evolved for military survival because anyone on the bottom 99% of that skill set died of course because Arakis isn't exactly a vacation spot.
