Oneangrygamer.net notes:

"Tech journalist, male feminist, and anti-#GamerGate critic, Matt Hickey has been fined $332,000 for his fake porn agency recruitment scam that he used as a front in order to have sex with young women and take nude pictures of the women."

"Hickey had been running the porn agency scam since 2006."

"All during this time Hickey had been advocating for sex-negativity on behalf of third-wave feminists. Hickey adopted the activism of a male feminist, attacking companies and the tech industry for its alleged "sexism", including chastising Microsoft for hiring gogo dancers for an after party at the Game Developers Conference.. Hickey previously wrote for The Stranger, Forbes and Gizmodo."

Times have changed. We have this Great Recession on. People do desperate things for money.

Times have changed. People now have more access to information than ever, and a scam like this would be trivial to reveal. There are no excuses.

At 18 not many people have developed strong life skills. Many many people wander through their younger years coddled in relative comfort, unaware of how brutal the real world can be. So some young horny girl wants money, sees an opportunity and doesn't really think twice? I mean, where do you go to research the integrity of porn producers??

    There are no excuses.

While I'm not a fan of nanny-statism, and I do like personal responsibility, there are many scammers out there who deserve to be arrested. The victims of scams are not to be insulted, they should be given empathy and maybe a course on how to spot a scammer.

Maybe we should add a mandatory 1 year scam awareness course for high school!

I'm pretty sure all the red flags used to spot a scammer would have about a 100% false positive rate for legit porn producers.

Um, duh. I'm vegetarian and even *I* know those companies never intended to legitimately deliver sausage pizzas.
