...the more likely they're guilty. I know a bunch of actual male feminists, and they don't feel the need to toot their horns about it. They just go about their business being decent people.

Finally got around to watching that and OMG!
Here's the link to the info [ageofshitlords.com] from the video description for anybody who doesn't want to watch a video. (The video is mostly a guy reading from that website, but brief quips he inserts make it worth a watch. Agree with the NSFW since it's a touchy subject.)
I really had no clue. It just makes a lot of things click if those guys are representative of hyperbolic male feminists.
I think a lot of guys call themselves feminists as a way of saying “I think women should be equals” without realizing the bigoted underpinnings of feminism. I still give a start any time somebody of any gender claims they're a feminist though. Guess that's something that'll probably always be with me.

I can agree that it could just be a bad apple situation. However, I find Feminist too broad a term now a days (just like Nazi, Racist, and Islamophobe), and I never lavish praise at anyone who labels themselves something as it could just be virtue signaling. Still, I will take you at your word that your friends/acquaintances are decent people.

Yeah, it's been tainted by a bunch of lunatics...the TERFs, the lesbian separatists (one of whom conferred upon me the title "traitor to the lesbian race..."), the ones who think having a Y chromosome means someone is a demon or something...it's nuts. It's gotten to the point i don't want to use the word about myself, but the word "egalitarian" has been hijacked even worse :(

Not moving (far) outside geek-circles, today I learned;
TERF is an acronym for Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. Sometimes, "exclusionary" is expanded as "eliminationist" or "exterminationist" instead to more accurately convey the degree to which TERFs advocate for harm towards trans people, specifically trans people who were coercively assigned male at birth.
Oddly enough, this is from a site called GeekFemenism.com, which must be a play on words (likely akin to phrases such as "Airline 'Food'").
Just popped-out of a tight spot. Came out mostly clean, too.

Don't dismiss the idea of "geek feminism." I work with exited victims of human trafficking, and my closest friend after my girlfriend is a 50 year old case who's suffered disabilities and injuries making her unhireable since age 16. These were inflicted on her by her pimp and several malicious, cruel johns.
She's also a friggin' genius, and went from never even having seen a computer before age 40 to teaching herself motherloving Haskell in the space of the last few months on a donated machine with Linux on it--which she is *also* taking to like a fish to water. I have been using Linux for 13 years and cannot for the life of me get into ANY programming language at all, let alone Haskell.
The real work of feminism is done behind the scenes and, as it were, in the trenches. The womens' marches get all the press, but it's the neediest and poorest women who are usually denied help even from self-professed feminists who are the loci of the real change. Small things make all the difference in their lives.

Yeah, people use the word 'traitor' a lot nowadays.
