Hackers have obtained a copy of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and are threatening to release portions of it unless Disney pays a Bitcoin ransom:

Although Iger did not mention the movie by name during the meeting, Deadline reports that it's a copy of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.'

[...] The "ransom" demand from the hacker is reminiscent of another prominent entertainment industry leak, where the requested amount of Bitcoin was not paid. Just a few weeks ago a group calling itself TheDarkOverlord (TDO) published the premiere episode of the fifth season of Netflix's Orange is The New Black, followed by nine more episodes a few hours later.

[...] There is no indication that the previous and threatened leaks are related in any way. TorrentFreak has seen a list of movies and TV-shows TDO said they have in their possession, but the upcoming 'Pirates' movie isn't among them.

Disney has refused to pay a ransom and is cooperating with the FBI.

Some movies do benefit from the big screen. If pirates get seen too much on computer it is inevitable that bad ratings will follow.

I made the mistake of seeing rogue one on blueray (yes i paid for it too), on a 40" hd tv. Really felt i missed out not being arsed to see it in the cinema. Then again we went to see Dredd in 3d and may as well have watched it streamed on a phone with sunglasses on while riding the bus, cause that was a crap experience.

For all the people, ads, cost, mess and hassle still think a big screen experience is worth it for some movies.

Ads on the big screen was what ruined the theater experience for me.

By the time the ads finally stopped, I wasn't in much mood to enjoy the film. The theater experience just wasn't special anymore. I felt I was just another captive seat-sitter to be marketed to.

I felt the least the ad presenters could have done is treated me to popcorn and soda for putting up with their crap.

I had deliberately paid for the theater experience - not to preached at!

My "movie money" was soon re-allocated to more enjoyable pursuits.

Yes, exactly. Running endless batteries of ads before the scheduled start of the movie is abusive. I used to love seeing ads for Coming Attractions, but they don't do that much at all anymore. Just Pepsi and other crap I dropped cable to get away from. The assigned seats bullshit also pisses me off. I have an assigned seat in a barka lounger with prime position already, watching movies shared by kindly people who wear eye patches, thank you very much. Also, the popcorn shakes out to around $0.75 for a giant bucket after a CostCo run.
