Not much to say, other than Moore was the first Bond I came to know, and as such, is the first face I think of when I think of the Bond Character.

He seems to be pretty universally well-liked and was extremely self-deprecating, as the comment about his own acting suggests. There was a piece in New Statesman [newstatesman.com] about him that had a few insights I'd not seen before, not least of which his background and how National Service affected his speech. In interviews, he came across as down-to-earth and not taking himself at all seriously.
He was also a lifelong Conservative supporter, but nobody's perfect. ;)
