    Don't underestimate the narcissism inherent in many malicious hackers. As far as many are concerned, EVERYONE should be impressed by whatever exploit they've coded, and they're doing you a service by allowing you to donate to them, just to express how impressed you are.

    Besides, considering some of the high profile organizations that this malware has managed to affect that plenty of lower class folk probably take issue with, it makes sense that some who wouldn't really want it affecting their own computers would nonetheless applaud what it's done to the rich and powerful. It honestly sounds like whoever made this statement perhaps watches a little too much Mr. Robot.

    As another commenter noted, this is not the ransomware that infected the NHS, Telefonica and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
